I just got a nice little used 21a in .22, and I have it loaded with stingers, however, I noticed that when i chamber a round, it shaves off a little bit of the lead from the bullet!

looks kind of like a lead pinky nail trimming if that makes sense,

Is that normal in this gun?

Normal or not I can't say.

But Stingers are a little different beast then normal .22 LR the gun was designed to feed.

Try some Long Rifle High-Speed like Mini-Mags or something, and see if that doesn't fix it.
They will give better penetration then Stingers anyway.

Update: tried chambering some normal rounds and they don't shave, but then again, they may not feed either lol..

I hate small pistols, why do I keep buying them? lol.. I hope this one is atleast somewhat reliable with CCI Minimags

I have a 21a and after a few hundred rounds it is a favorite in my house. My wife can shoot it better than others and likes shooting it.

I like it too.

What condition should the gun be carried in? Manual says no half cock hammer carry with a round in the chamber, and cocked and locked fully is obviously out, so hammer down with saftey on i guess?

Stingers or MiniMags feed fine in mine. Why no cocked and locked? I don't because I am used to carrying a DA/SA hammer down safety off. Trained that with a First gen S&W in the 70s.

I will say that mine likes to be clean. I normally clean it a little every hundred rounds or so at the range. I get FTE when it is dirty. No problems at all if it is clean thank goodness.

I had mine out at the last range session. It didn't really like Federal Automatch but ran 100% with CCI Minimags, and Stingers. I prefer the Minimags in this pistol and that's what I use mostly, and also when I carry it.

Carry it cocked and locked, or hammer down, safety off, with a loaded chamber. Thats what Double Action pistols are great for.

Mine (I have 2 ) like normal 22 LR standard velocity LRN At present Iam using Blazer I used to use stingers But why when normal 22 works fine . I have run as many as 250 at time with out cleaning (we fired a brick of 500 between the pistols one afternoon ) neither missed a beat.

Way better than the POS Taurus PT-22 I had 2 times to factory and never fixed for lite strikes

Bought mine used a few years ago. It has ran with anything I have ever fed it, cheap to expensive, hp's or solids. I really like it and carry it often with Stingers in the mag and backup mag

Mine runs okay until it gets dirty, then it stops picking up the next round.

When that happens, I find it quite fun to single shot some Colibri through it.

Got back from the range, she runs sweet, only thing I noticed is she shoots about 1 inch left of intended POI, but this goes away when using Federal Automatch ammo, also could be due to my flinch. not sure, but no malfunctions of any kind with regard to FTF, FTE etc.... shot 350 rnds or so, very impressed, stingers are HOT!

Different ammo will produce different points of impact, as well as groups.

Not sure if you noticed or not.

But you didn't buy a match pistol.

Great observation...very helpful there..

mine also failed to pick up the next round once, good to know its only because it was dirty.
