Beretta .22lr kit - 92FS

What is the verdict on the Beretta .22lr kit for the 92? How is the reliablity and quality of this kit? What is the going rate?

A lot of guys at the Beretta forum have them. You may want to ask there. I have a 92FS, but decided to buy a .22 Neos instead of the .22 kit for the 92. The Neos gun was about the same money as the .22 kit and this way I have another gun. If you want cheap practice on your 92, then the kit is a better option. I think the kits have been going for around $200, but I also think they have been discontinued. They are no longer on the Beretta store site.

I have one. I like it a lot. I owned a Neos and sold it. I just didn't like the feel in my hand and I kept cutting myself when I field-stripped it due to sharp edges. I didn't like the modest sights. However, many owners really like them.

So far, the .22 kit has been very reliable, though I have had a few failure to feed with some standard velocity ammo. But, very few of these.

I really like the fact that it has the exact feel and handling characteristics as one of my favorite 9mm handguns. That's why I bought it.

Back when I was on the National Guard pistol team, we used the Ceiner 22 conversions for "warm up" practice. Overall they work great. There is no slide lock on the Ceiner.

The key to success is lubrication and a clean chamber/barrel. We would start to have trouble with them if we ran 500+ rounds through them without lubrication or taking time to run a patch down the bore. Those 22s are dirty and the chamber would start to gum up to the point that extraction became sporadic.
