Came across a used Beretta 92 compact today, knew right away it was an older model as it does not have a rail, but after the clerk at the shop handed it to me I was confused... pulled out the magazine and to my surprise was a single stack..

Noticed the slide had Type L on it, while the frame had Type M.

I've never seen a single stack Beretta 92 (plenty of 1951s) but am curious if they are considered collectible. It's in great shape, and the price is pretty reasonable.

yes they are rare as far as 92's go.. they were only imported for a couple years and in small numbers around 2k, IFIRC, back in 90-93ish.

Pristine can still go close to 1k. well used can still sell for 500.00

Magazines are the killer thou...

A) non-existent
B) when you find one expect to pay 100.00+

Ive had one for many years. The perfect Beretta if I do say so myself. However, the lack of mags has left it in the safe for a long time. (To be fair I do not spend every waking moment searching either)

I'm still kicking myself for not buying one when I had the chance. That was 13-14 years ago and I haven't seen once since. Beretta brought the double-stack compact back in to production, it would be nice to see the M come back, too. But I'm not holding my breath.

I saw a couple of them ages ago in the local Galiyans, Dick's Sporting Goods now. Seeing as I live in Ma with our mag restrictions thought it was a good idea and I think they were stainless steel to boot.
