I usually am over at the other highroad pages but...
I have a friend who recently purchased the Beretta 96 .40S&W.
I could have sworn I read somewhere that the Beretta 92f magazines were interchangeable with the 10mm/.40S&W at the cost of like one round less in overall capacity. Is this true???
We were wondering if the large capacity 92 magazines (i.e. 15-30 rd.) would feed the .40S&W?
It seems that they are the same, but will they fit/function for firing?
My friend is looking to buy another magazine for the pistol but I've had little luck finding any high capacity ones specifically for the 96...
Any ideas where I could get some???

Thanks as always,
Jim

They will not fit / function with 100% reliability...

Externally, I believe they're the same. I am not sure about the follower.

The magazine spring from the 9mm mag isn't strong enough for the heavier .40's. I believe that BUSA swapped that spring out of the .40 magazines for the one they use in the 20 round 92 magazine.

So, if someone else can tell you about the follower, you'll have your answer; sort of...

FWIW, Mec-Gar makes 17 rd. 9mm & 12 rd .40 mags for 90 series; mine worked flawlessly when I had them...

Good luck.
