I bought an A300 Outlander a couple months back. I read a number of positive reviews and purchased. Its been great for clays and should serve me well for ducks this fall/winter.
I was, however, hoping that I could mount a scope on it for Illinois shotgun deer season. I read this description http://www.beretta.com/Long-guns/Field-guns/Semi-automatic/A300-Outlander/index.aspx?m=82&f=2&id=2369&did=40991, which pretty clearly states that, with the addition of a scope base, the A300 can accept scope mounts. Specifically, where it says:
Now also at the bottom of that article are some pics of the receiver, which show some areas near the top of the receiver where the metal is recessed, likely for said scope mount. Now, comparing that to my Outlander, it does not in fact have these recesses. So I'm wondering, could it have been accidentally left off my gun? Or maybe the synthetic version, to save on cost, forgoes that feature (the wood stocked version is shown, but I had thought that the furniture was the only difference?
To date, I've not contacted Beretta (I suppose it couldnt hurt). If I learn that for whatever reason that feature was discontinued or not included on my model, do I have any other options for removable scope bases? Can a shotgun receiver be drilled for scope base screws?
Thanks for taking time to read and comment!

The top of the receiver is designed to accept (with an optional base) optics and other aiming system.
