I bought this shotgun from a friend of mine who can no longer hunt. It says Ducks Unlimited in gold on the right side of the receiver. It came with 3 chokes but no papers or box. I have wanted at times to shoot it but have plenty of shotguns to shoot without shooting this one. It has beautiful walnut and the bolt and carrier are jeweled. Sweet looking gun!

My question is was this model Beretta a reliable shotgun?---I have always been a Browning or Winchester man. Also, how can I determine the date of manu? Thanks, RO

IMO: The 390 is the best semi-auto shotgun Beretta has made to data.

I think the A390ST DU was the 'dinner gun' in 1991.

Great gun to shoot, so go enjoy it. DU guns are really not that collectible, so enjoy shooting a nice-looking well-made gun.

Depending on who you talk to, every Beretta model gas gun is someone's favorite and the best they made..... ;)

The 390 was arguably the simplest Beretta gas gun and the easiest to clean and keep running. My 390s were stupid reliable with loads as low as 1100fps 3/4oz powderpuffs, and ran without a hiccup regardless of my (poor) cleaning regimen.

The 390 is my favorite gas operated semi. Shoot and use the gun. It won't be worth any more years from now unfired.

I agree. Not much added value purely for the DU connotation other than what you would expect for good wood and finish, but a very good shotgun. I would shoot it if it suited me. They were made to be shot.

I should add balance to the list of 390 virtues - it's simple gas system made the front end less clunky in feel than later models. They're not as lithe as a Benelli, but the 390 is the better than the 391/400 in that regard.

I have one in 20 ga a sporting clays version, never ever a FTF or FTE my grandson and his mom shot it and did well with it.
