Today I shot my new A400 Xplor Action 28ga shotgun for the first time. I had a great time. Yes the semi auto threw those hulls around pretty good. However the A400 was about half what my 12ga Beretta 686 cost. After today I know I can be good with the 28ga shooting trap and can start saving my pennies for another 686. Yesterday WalMart had the 28ga ammo on roll back for $9 a box. It's a little steep, but they were AA hulls. I possibly will start reloading the 28ga. It was just so darn much fun and little recoil. My first round was 21 of 25. I was expecting to hit only 10 or 12. The experience made it that much sweeter. The A400 was flawless and cycled slick and easy. IMG_2276.jpg IMG_2277.jpg

looks nice how much they go for. i am shore it more than i can afforded but have bin on the look out for a 28ga in a pump. i missed out on a 20ga rem 1100 last week i could have gotten for 350 ish had the nice barrel rib and the gold engraved inlay.

I bought this one new on sale for $999. It was the first time I had found one less than about 1200. Kinda steep compared to older gas guns, but I don't usually find those in 28ga. This one weighed about 6 lbs on my fish scale with three rounds in it. Light and recoil is minimal. Came with shims to adjust the stock fit etc and three chokes.

I needed to add a Briley mag cap weight to make my friend's 28A400 handle decently.

As to ammo:

Academy sells Win AAs in 28 for $9box.
Winchester has a $2/box rebate (2x/year) good for up to 5 flats ($100).
If you do not reload, those Win aa 1x fired hulls are worth a minimum of .012/each.

SO, buy the ammo $9/box, minus a $2/box rebate, minus a $3/box sale of the empties and you are shooting top-notch Win AA 28 gauge ammo for a total of $4/box.

seems like good deal i like the case to.

I have a fondness for 28 gauge.

The first shot gun I ever shot was my Dad's 28 gauge side by side that he grew up with. Got my first pheasant with it.

The first time I won my class at a skeet tournament was with 28 gauge. It took a shoot out to win the class, doubles at stations 3, 4 and 5 made it a bit a nervous event but a bit sweeter for the win.

The A400 28 gauge looks like a nice shotgun.

Nice! 28 is such a peach, I love that round.

I’d like an 1100 in 28 ga to go with the Red label and BPS 28s haunting the safe...it’ll complete a shotgun action and manufacturer trifecta I guess..o_O

Stay safe!

I had a 1100 in 28; with my reloads, the AA hulls landed about 4 feet away; with the factory 1300 AA sporting loads, I had to drive to the next county to find them.....................

My 1100 28 gauge launches AA's about 10-12 feet, just like my 1100 .410 skeet. I love to shoot them, but hate to look for the shells to reload.

Thanks for all the good 28 ga info. Acquired a second 28 ga Beretta yesterday on a deal I just couldn't pas up. Whew what a ride!

That plastic case it comes in is more of a "selling" case than a "carrying" case. The fellow we got my wife's A400 28ga from said _not_ to use it as a carrying case, as it will rub raw the finish where it contacts the gun. He's sold a potful of Berettas and likes them, but the case is a weak spot and can cause grief. My wife is compensating by buying a canvas/duck shotgun sleeve with zebra skin details. She likes her gunny stuff a bit on the flashy side.

Other than that, my wife's A400 28ga is a sweetheart. Both wife and daughter now knock plenty of targets out fo the sky and should be ready for pheasants come November.
