Anyone have any actual experience with this carbine? I'm looking for a carbine for HD and plinking. I'm only aware of the Highpoint and Kel-Tec versions and I've heard mixed reviews at best. I've also looked at Gungroker for a pre-owned Marlin Camp Rifle and Ruger carbine - almost as expensive as the Beretta.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Do a search, you'll find a billion (or two) postings in here on the CX4. They seem to be rather popular in here, most people love them. I myself would like to see one in 357sig, please Beretta, please.

My beretta has been great, I've shot around 3k through it with 3 stovepipe jams (that I blame on the ammo). It is accurate and handles great. I also like the fact of the hi-cap mags that are available. It has low enough recoil to let my son shoot, but is stout enough that i wouldnt hesitate to use good jhp's for home defense.

I've had mine(bought it used) for about a year and really like it. It has had zero problems after countless rounds down range. Negligable felt recoil, accurate, fun to shoot and easy to maintain. Great for indoor range use.

my dad has one, i always wanted one, but didn't have the money so i talked him into getting one and as a result i get to shoot his. i suggest 9mm, it is cheaper and allows for more shooting. they are fun for sure, the triggers aren't the best but i have no issues getting good accuracy out of em at realistic defensive ranges and beyond. there is a ton of acessories out there for em too to make it just the way that you want it.

I picked up a CX4 in 9mm a while back and it was love at first shot, after you shoot one you will understand why so many people love their Cx4's.

The gun is incredibly accurate, it's been 100% reliable for me after about 1k rounds so far and eats any ammo brand and type I feed it. It's also very fun to shoot and the ambidextrous features can be switched around in no time and with no tools required, so it's a great gun for left or right handed shooters.

The only complaint you occasionally hear is that the trigger pull is a little heavy. However it's an easy fix if you're careful and it only takes a few minutes to lighten it significantly. Some people also don't care for the look of the gun and the fact that it has a thumbhole stock.

I personally think the Cx4 is very elegant looking and is a natural pointer and the thumbhole stock doesn't bother me. As I said the gun is incredibly accurate. With my Aimpoint mounted I'm making one hole groups at up to 50 yards and at 100 yards it's still quite accurate. It also would make one hell of a home defense carbine! I would probably go for my Cx4 before my Uzi or PS90 in a home invasion scenario.

Here's a couple pics of mine....

Listen to everyone else and get one. It's my favorite plinker. Very accurate and extremely easy to take down. Both my daughters (aged 14 and 15) enjoy shooting it too, if that says anything about the recoil.

Here's mine.
