I have a Beretta 96 Brigadier in .40 S&W. This gun is about 10-12 years old and does not have a rail. I would like to get a laser sight for it. I would really like a laser/light combo for it. Any suggestions of catalogs or websites to look at? Most of what I have seen so for has just been generic sights that will only work on a Weaver or Piccatiny rail, which as I said, my gun does not have. I have looked at Crimson Trace, but they only have a generic large/1911 sight which may or may not work. I do know that my gun is bigger than a 1911. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

These both look great, but I think my model 96 Brigadier is bigger than an M9 Isn't it a 9mm? Mine is .40.I know I bought a surplus shoulder holster for a 1911 for it and the gun would not fit in the holster. I know that is not an accurate way to measure the gun, but it's all I have at the moment.
Thanks for the info.

The only part of the standard Brigadier that is larger than a regular 92/M9 or 96 is the slide. The frames are identical. So anything that works on a 92/96/M9 frame will work on your 96 Brig.

A much better looking and cheaper alternative is the TICK rail adapter (now called the EZ Rail). You can find it on a number of websites for around $50. It slips over the dust cover and clicks into place via a small opening in the side of the rail where the Beretta's takedown button is on the right side. So you push in the takedown button, slide the rail over it, and the takedown button pops into the opening in the rail. Once on, you tighten a nylon screw which snugs it up against the front of the trigger guard.

I had one on my 92FS temporarily, and it held up pretty well. I fired it at the range one time with an attached Streamlight TLR-1 light, and after about 100 rounds, the rail was a little loose, but it cannot come off unless you press the takedown button in all the way and slip the rail off. It just wobbled very slightly, until I retightened the little nylon screw.

The real downside to the TICK is that if you have it tightened down properly, you cannot really take the gun apart, since there is so much tension on the takedown button. I like being able to field strip my pistols without having to use tools or take anything off. The TICK's screw has to be loosened to free up the takedown button if you want to field strip the gun.
