Beretta M9/92FS - Ready to GO?

I recommend: chambered, decocked, safety on. As others have stated, I think the 92FS is too bulky for IWB carry unless you are thin and have very loose clothing. Or it is winter with bulky outer-wear to help with printing issues.

As a draw-and-shoot weapon the 92FS works as advertised.

Hi all,

Does the 92FS decocker fully lower the hammer all the way?

Also, when the safety is on, what happens when you rack the slide (or can you)?

I'm guessing that the currently chambered round is ejected and a new round is chambered but that the hammer is not cocked.

Last question: when the safety is on, can the gun still fire DA?

Thanks.

For the record the only authorized carry of the M9 for the US Air Force (which is what the 2T2 is Transportation.) is Chambered round, decocked, and safety off IAW with AFI 31-101, have a good day.

I could only think of a few other pistols that are as impractical to CCW as a Beretta M9

I have no problem concealing my 92fs as long as I wear a coat, I don't do it very often but I've done it now and then. It's too bulky for me to carry IWB but in my Comp-Tac paddle holster I can wear it quite comfortably.

As for how I carry. Chambered, hammer at half-cock with safety off.

The Decocker drops the hammer all the way. If the safety is engaged the hammer will not lock back, you are right about the chambering. The gun can not fire if the safety is on even in DA because the trigger is disengaged.

We carry round chambered, hammer down, safety ON. (Onboard ships) and our security force guys do the same.
In Iraq, if you were seen with the safety off and you weren't actively involved in shooting, you were in deep poop.

I prefer condition 2, but for goodness sakes, what is it with the CCW community shunning those who prefer condition 3?

Two hands aren't available all the time.

I'd feel comfortable either with a Beretta 92 on safe or off.

I've found that frame safeties don't force a hitchhiker's thumb movement to get a good slide safety off. Push forward with the thumb, and it goes off. Especially with the 92's spring loaded lever.

I'm a chubby dude with clothes that can hide a Beretta if I think about it. If concealed carry were legal here, and I owned any handguns, rather than renting at the range.
