Beretta m951 questions

Does anyone have any info on the Beretta m951 such as availability of parts,current value,and how they shoot.
A friend has one he wants to trade and I wanted to find some info on it.This paticular model was used in the Egyptian army.

The Helwan Brigadier is a licensed copy of the Beretta Model 951.
It is produced by Maadi, in Egypt.

The gun is all-steel, single-action, and chambered for the 9mm.
The single-stack magazine holds 8-rounds.
These guns were available around 5 years ago at less than $200.
The one that I fired was accurate, and it felt good in the hand. This gun will not feed hollowpoints.... use ball ammo only.
The safety and magazine release are buttons on the left side of the grip, so it may take some getting-used-to if you are familiar with other pistols.

I think that for $200, it's a good value.

There are (2) different versions of the Beretta Model 1951 used by the Egyptian Army. As the previous poster noted, the one sold commercially in this country as the "Helwan Brigadier", and made by the "Maadi" company is the more common. The one that is quite uncommon and valuable is the original contract pistol made by the Beretta factory in Italy. The most notable differences beside the slide markings, is that the Italian made pistol has a butt magazine release similar to the German P 38. Whereas the Egyptian made pistol has a "Button" mag release on the lower part of the grip.

real egyptian 1951

just got out of pawn what i think is an authentic beretta made egyptian 1951. has serial of EC64XX RIGHT SLIDE and frame.left slide has,due to wear hard to see, looks like smiley face with ruffles around it, tho i know it's not.has the sheet metal at the butt mag release,4 screw grips. written on the slide is:MODELLO 1951 ECAL 9mm PARA P BERETTA 1955.looks like an old navy arms import tho not sure when they did.laynard lower left grip,black checkered beretta grips. i think the give away is the "smiley" face and the EC in the serial. grips are cracked on one side while the metal has more brown patina than actual wear. the bore is sharp and crisp.also missing 1 grip screw . who would most likely have the grips and screw for sale? i paid $280.00 plus 10.00 background.it's no beauty queen but not worn out either. any thoughts on value? As for parts, Gun Parts Inc. still has a bunch of stuff available for these pistols.

If BadJohn is as lucky as orgdp and has an original Italian version of the pistol, then you both have the very best of the best of the versions.

By the way, Iraq also makes a version of this pistol called the 'Tariq'.

Like the Egyptian guns, it is fairly crude when compared with the real thing.

egyptian or italian

my handgun is obviously egyptian contract but how to tell country of origin? 4 screw grip, straight backstrap, EC prefix serial #, egyptian crest left slide,no egyptian writting. 1951 E left slide,mag release is sheet metal on butt?

I got two Helwans (because of price) and they were both absolute garbage.Poorly made,horrible sites,terrible mags and 99% UNRELIABLE from round one.
