Hello everyone, this is my first post so here goes. I own a Beretta PX 4 Storm 9mm, full size, Type F so it has the ambi-safety/de-cocker on the slide. They protrude enough to be a nuisance when racking the slide. I was wondering if anybody knew about getting them machined down. Perhaps they can be swapped out for flush-mounted pieces? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I had the same issue when trying it out to see if it was the gun I wanted to buy. Definitely a major factor in me not purchasing it.

I love my PX4 but I have too say, the "bat wing" levers are awful. I read somewhere that Beretta designed them for boot heel or edge slide racking....which hardly makes sense for the one in a million chance that the pistol would ever have to be cocked like that. They also don't make sense, since every other aspect of the PX4 is so ergonomic and comfortable.....

that slimline lever that JohnKSa mentioned, isnt that the slide lock lever and not the safety/de-cocker?

They do come as a set. I have them installed on my 45. I hated the safety levers that were on it. They do turn the gun into a decocker only.

For those that have converted their F model to a G model with the slim levers, how do you like the converted gun? I've got an F model .40 full size Px4 and I'm riding the fence. I keep the gun on bed stand duty, so those dumbo ears aren't really an issue now, but if I ever carry it I may change my mind.

Why does it leave you with only a de-cocker? what happens to the safety when you swap out the wings?

what happens to the safety when you swap out the wings?

If you tried to set the safety it would spring back off(up). Its now spring loaded and will default to the off position. PX4 owners got it good, I so wish it were that easy for my 92 but unfortunately I would need to buy a whole 92G slide. The DA pull and firing pin block is all the safety I need for my 92.

Why does it leave you with only a de-cocker?

The F type lever has detents which are engaged by a ball and spring in the slide, thus it is held in place once put in the safety on position. The G and slim levers lack these so the safety spring moves the lever back to the safety off position once released.
