Hello from WY, im new to the forum and would like everyones input on beretta px4 storm compact. Im looking at it for my first "all around" ( home, carry, fun) gun. If anyone has suggestions for similar guns that they believe are better im up for listening. I held a sig p250 today and ot was comparable to comfort in my hand as the px4 so im looking to see what you guys think thanks.

I like the Beretta. The recoil is very mild and the gun is reliable. If you want an external safety on a DA/SA gun in polymer then I think this is your best option. The downside IMO is the smooth front strap. There are other guns out there it depends what you are looking for in terms of features. glock, m&p, sig, all make very good guns for all around use.

I have several handguns of many types, and the PX4 Storm Compact may well be my best all-around pistol. I have it in 9mm. It has a relatively high capacity, shoots soft, carries easily IWB, very reliable. I can't think of anything I don't like about it...wonderful gun!

Having both, Px4/40/G full size w/rotating barrel, the same as the Compact, and Sig P225/228 and 229/9mm's - either gun in 9mm and 147gr sub-sonic JHP's is a great choice.

Sig or Beretta Px4 Compact 9mm is a great field to choose from for your first semi-handgun.

Just learn and understand the ease of diassembly/inspection/clean/lube and reassembly of either gun before you start off with, and, well ahead of your first range visit a/o first 500 rounds. They do not come lubricated from the factory, namely rails/guides will have a rust protective covering of cosmoline which may look like lube, but it is not.

Understanding of the take-down, "the ease of it", with either gun, is your best friend of any gun.

Clean/inspect/lube prior to heading out to the range is KEY with any NIB gun.

Smith & Wesson 686+ Revolver

Rereading your original post it sounds like you are very new to the world of handguns. When I was in your shoes I spent a lot of time reading and researching on this forum and other sources before I decided on my first handgun. For me, the best choice for an all around first firearm was the Smith & Wesson 686 revolver with 4 inch barrel. If you truly want a gun that can do it all, consider the 686+ with 7 round capacity. The gun will be accurate, ridiculously accurate, extremely reliable, simple to operate and maintain, and you will have the option to shoot low recoil .38's through it or full house .357s. If was in your shoes, and I once was, that would be my 'first' choice.

There is that. I didn't find it to be as accurate as I wanted. Another poly offering that can be switched from either decocker to standard safety or back by the end user is the CZ P-07 Duty.

The Storm was an interesting gun to play with, but I wasn't as impressed with it as I'd hoped to be. High Noon does make some awesome leather for the Storm, I will say that.
