Bersa? Maybe

I posted a poll debating the Glock 30 and 26 (and still haven't decided). I went to a gun show today and saw everything BUT a Glock 30 and 26. There was a G27, but it sold. Is this a sign? ha ha!

While browsing the tables, I happened upon a Bersa Thunder 9 Ultra Compact. Anyone have any experience? I really like the look, feel and price of this gun. It has a hammer, decocker, external safety, good grip, etc. It's very similar (albeit smaller) than the Beretta 92FS that I'm accustomed to. It looks to be slightly fatter than a G26, but not as fat as a G30, so it's somewhat a compromise.

Could it be this is the gun I want? I wanted something with similar features to my Beretta but had almost settled on the Glock.

Gun show opens at 10 a.m. tomorrow, so I welcome any/all of your comments!

I have 2 Bersa's....a "Thunder .380", and a "Thunder .45 Ultra Compact Pro".
I do not claim to be an expert on guns, but I have several different handguns, and several rifles...from many manufacturer's, including "brand" names...(S&W,Ruger,etc..)
My Bersa's are both excellent handguns, and imho, you won't go wrong with one.
Especially the "Bersa Thunder 9 Ultra Compact"...it has probably the best rep of ALL the Bersa's! :)

I say go for it, for the money, nothing can touch them.

I have the full size Thunder 9. A great pistol with not a problem in 12 years. Have been thinking about the compact for some time, just haven't yet made the leap.
 
Let me throw this into the mix in regard to Glocks: I can get a NIB G26 for $419 and a G30 for $485 plus tax.
 
I've had my UC9 for a couple months now and I really couldn't be happier. I honestly think a person would suffer problems trying to get this pistol to malfunction using any factory ammunition as they have quite the reputation for reliability.
If you're interested in one, you'll do well to purchase one; there's nothing to complain about with the UC9 and plenty to exalt, including splended ergonomics and impressive SA trigger (the DA trigger is also good, nicer than most).

The UC9 is a safe and solid bet. Mine has supplanted my trusty CZ-82 as a "car gun" for the wife. It's nearly identical in size though chambered in a considerably more potent cartridge. Despite this, the recoil from the UC9 is quite a bit more pleasant than the CZ-82. I still love the CZ-82 and plan to continue plinking with it for years to come.

If you've got large hands and a little extra skin in the web of your hand, be careful of your grip or you'll end up with a fun scar like mine with the bersas.

Other than that, they're a really well built gun, especially considering the money.
 
I own a Bersa Thunder UC9 and a Bersa Thunder 380. Both have been reliable, and both are reasonably accurate for pistols of their size and barrel length. The UC9 has been as reliable after thousands of rounds as my other two 9mm pistols (XD9 and SW5903). I do prefer the XD and the SW, but only because they are full size pistols with larger magazine capacities. I have large hands, and I am simply able to shoot those two pistols better than I can shoot the UC9. For concealability, the UC9 is certainly a better choice, since it is easier to hide. It is the same length and height as the Bersa Thunder 380, though it is thicker, since it has a double-stack magazine instead of a single-stack. It is a little heavy for comfortable IWB carry, but it would make a great car or truck gun. Its hefty weight is actually nice when I'm shooting it, since it helps tame recoil. Mine lives in my glove compartment now.
 
I posed the same question on another board and was told this: get a g27 and the conversion barrel that gives you both calibers.....

Me thinks this is a good solution! Thanks all for the inputs!!

PS: bestseller92 ... I can get a G26 or G27 for $419 +tax from an LE dealer (I'm active duty military) so for the money that sounds like the best all around option.

I'm glad you military guys get a discount. You earn and deserve all the perks you can get. Enjoy the Glock or whatever gun you end up buying!
