Bersa Thunder 380 Reliability

Most everything I've been reading is good. I'd like you opinions and comments.

I have a Thunder CC that I bought last spring. It is my summer carry since it is really slender and easy to conceal wearing just shorts and a T-Shirt.

The only problem I have had is with the WWB .380 ammo for practice, as they have a flat nose. They will sometimes hang on the ramp when cycling by hand, though once I have chambered that first round it always cycles reliably through the rest of the mag. But my PPK does exactly the same thing with the WWB .380's so I think it has more to do with the bullet shape than the firearm itself.

I use Golden Sabres for SD, but have tried Gold Dots and most of the other popular SD rounds and they all worked flawlessly. So I personally haven't had any malfunctions or problems, other than getting that first round into the chamber when using the flat nosed WWB.

I have a Thunder 380 that I bought 4 or 5 years ago. It's been rock solid reliable with 500+ rounds through it so far.

Blazer round nose .380 shoots very well through it for just messing around.

I have owned mine for 8 years now without any problems. I carry Rem 102gr Golden Sabres for SD. It has shot gold dots, magtech, Rem. and Independence very well also for plinking.

I've had mine for 2+ years and had no problems after 500+ rounds. Warranty service is reported to be good and parts are inexpensive. Most common complaint I've heard seems to be a stiff safety which warranty will correct for you. I would not hesitate to recommend one to someone interested in that caliber SD gun.
Make sure you use only factory Bersa magazines though. Pro-Mags are problematic. HTH

 

[Just One Shot]

Less than 3 months and so far no issues have arrived. It's never jammed or failed to fire with any of the ammo I've used so far.

I saw a video on YouTube where a guy was having problems getting Fiochi to load reliably so I have stayed clear of that brand.

I keep Hornady HP in the mags for self defense but I've never had a problem with any of the Walmart ammo for range use.

use the cc in nickel as a bug. no problems, eats any ammo i put in it.

I purchased mine in 2000 - never a hiccup. I gave it to my father-in-law last year as a gift, along with 1000 rounds of ball and a mixture of SD ammo. He shoots with it at the range 2x a week and carries it daily.

I have two Bersa 380s, the Thunder and the CC. The Thunder has not had any problems in the 3+ years I've owned it. The CC has had two problems with the disconnector spring in the past two years. Mixed bag of results for me.

I had one, traded it to someone for an SKS neither of us had a problem with it. I've been told by a dealer that Walther PPKs are more prone to problems than Bersa Thunders.

My wife has had hers for about seven years now.Once I got her to stop limp-wristing the thing, not a single problem. Wish we had bought two for the price we got hers at.$175 out the door,IIRC.

Wow, this is a rout. I expected good feedback, but not THIS good. Something about seeing numbers puts a different spin on everything positive I've been hearing.
