I have been itching to buy a gun for quite a while now. I have done some reading, and I have heard good things about this gun. Does anybody else have some opinions to offer.

I like the size of the Thunder, I like the appearance, and i like the price. My big question is, is it RELIABLE? I want something, that if I get into a situation where I have to use it, it will go bang.

It is something that if I ever move to a state that has CCW, that I could use as a carry weapon.

yay.

I assume you're talking about the .380?

They are extremely reliable. Mine has never failed.

How is the recoil? I ain't that big, so I dont want something that is going to knock me on my butt.

The only experience I have is with a 22. I just feel that my 22 is not adequate for self defense purposes.

Recoil...

Recoil on it is fine I'd say. I'm a big guy but I don't really feel it matters much. It won't knock you on your butt. It's all just what you get used to as well. I have had two and I think they're great little guns. There's a constant debate on whether they're adequate for self defense but I like to think that if you shoot it well, it doesn't matter.

Use that search button on the upper right corner here and read till your hearts content.

Bookoo's of Bersa threads here over the past year and not one unhappy customer that I can remember.

I am repeating, I know! But as yet another Thunder owner (and lover) ... do indeed go search on ''Thunder'' .. there is a mountain of info and IIRC VERY little adverse comment.

It is at lower end of carry perhaps but .... still viable IMO. If you get one I severely doubt you will any regrets ... at all.

My wife sings very high praises of hers. As a mater of fact I have 2 now and she says they are both hers. I ain't tellin' her 'bout tha next one I buy, period!!!:banghead: Buy it you'll love it.

Hi!

The Thunder 380 is reliable, accurate, and above all, fun to shoot.
(Fun guns allow for more frequent practice and therefore skill-development)
It's light enough to carry, but with enough weight to keep it steady when firing.
Loads of safety features, maintenance is a breeze,
and the piece is very affordably priced...

Choose a gun that feels right and works for you, whether it's a Thunder 380 or some other model or caliber. You might consider visiting a firing range with a wide selection of firearm rentals, and then try them out.

That said, I believe you can't go wrong with the Thunder 380.

:)
hth,
horge

Well, I can give you an idea of how I feel about them:

Carried a .38 snub for two years, tried a Bersa, was sooo impressed that its been my carry for over a year now. My ability and confidence doubled with the Bersa over the .38.

AND......I just bought another one last weekend. Took it out yesterday and was wacking those orange skeet clays at 10-15 yds EVERY time! You just can't miss with a Bersa .380.

To sum up; the Bersa is now both my defense and play gun.

A side note; my wife likes the Bersa so much that for home defense she'd rather it on the bedroom shelf than the S&W revolver thats there now.

If you have any durability concerns, read the posting I made on this subject and the excellent responses.

I loved my Bersa Thunder .380. It never malfunctioned with any ammo, doesn't mind being limpwristed and is qute accurate. The only thing I don't like is that blowback operated pistols tend to be harder on the frame and since the frame is an alloy, it is not as strong as steel. It is stronger than aluminum, but most things are. I would have no qualms carrying it or relying on it. I would not make it a range gun, though. I guess in my opinion, it falls more into the category with the PM9 and the P3AT. A gun that works well, carries like a dream and is reliable, but that you don't neccessarily want to shoot 10 thousand rounds through.

Just my opinion.

Shel here are pictures of my Bersas. The wife says the sights on the Firestorm are a little easier for her to use.

I am so bummed out!!!!

I went to a local gunshop today, tried to buy one, they said they could order it... but low and behold, the supplier did not have any, and said they did not know when/if they would get any!

Is it because I asked for the black one... is the nickel easier to find??? I was so bummed out at the moment, I didnt think to ask if I could get the nickel. Is the all black that hard to find, or should I just go look somewhere else? or Get a nickel one and be happy with it... I have nothing against the nickel, I would take one, but I would rather have the all black.

Shel .. they are plenty around I am quite sure of that. I daresay if you do some surfing you'll find them. ... check out on GunBroker .. be surprised if none there.

If your guy will do a transfer for you .. then go shop around. I quite forget now where mine came from!

Shel, print out the picture and take it with you when you go shopping. I'd check more than one gunshop before giving up and like P95Carry said buying online isn't hard if you can find a shop that will help you. Just realize with online gun buying there is the added expense of FFL transfer, $10-$50, and shipping usually $35 overnight UPS.

:( My nickel Thunder 380 and I feel sooooo rejected :(

Spurned.
Scorned.
Cut to the quick.

:D :D :D :D

Alan's handsome piece (thanks for the pics Alan!) appears to be the

"Thunder .380 Lite - Limited Edition Series - Gold Enhanced Parts"
--with a BERSA wraparound rubber grip.

No question it's a beaut.
It's however not available here in the Philippines, and besides,
I bought my Thunder 380 as a utilitarian worktool.
Satin nickel is the toughest finish it comes in so that's what I chose.

...well, actually, my lovely wife chose it for us, hehe.
In this home, I may be the king --but she's all four aces.
:)

I wish it was the gold. Actually i didn't like it at first but it kind of grew on me. I just wish my wife would let me call it mine.

Chris,

the expression is a very old Filipino joke, featuring
a very large, muscular Filipino man arguing with his slender, petite wife.

"Sa bahay na ito, AKO ang Hari!!!"
(In this house, I am the King!!!)

whereupon the woman pinches and twists his ear, bringing him to his knees
(alternate versions have her fluttering her eylashes at him and blowing a kiss)

and the man caves, whimpering
"at ikaw ang Alas..."
(and you are the Ace...)

---
ah well, the translations ruin the pace :D

horge, I got to thinking about how the gold might be kind of nice to have so I went to http://www.lipseys.com/ to check it out and I beleve for $284.95 dealer cost I'll pass as it looks like all they did was paint my silver parts gold.

Thanks, Alan --I'm correcting the blurb on the website :)
EDIT: Done!

Hope Shel gets that Thunder 380 pronto.
