Bersa

The only thing I can say about mine that is bad, is that I can't justify still owning it with everything else I own, but I just don't see myself ever getting rid of it because its such a well made little gun

Started out with a BT380 duotone and the wife loved it so much I lost it to her. Then I was forced to get the matte finish:evil:. I purchase them for use. My wife's has over 2500 rounds trough it and mine only about 1500. Never had a problem period. Got a 45UC and am very pleased.

All of them are extremely reliable, accurate and easy to shoot or conceal. With a lifetime warrantee that actually means something what is there not to like. As far a the finish, yes there are better, but I USE mine. Finish is very far down on the list. You cannot go wrong with the Bersa.

With http://www.bersachat.com/forums/forum.php, I go there often get good information. Also they will and do want to hear about problems and try to help resolve them. They are good people.

I have had 2 Thunder .380's for over 10 years. One is always with me somehow. TOTALLY reliable. I never feel under gunned when carrying one. I have never had any issues with either of them.

Throw my vote in.. as I've said, if .380 ammo were as inexpensive and plentiful as .22LR is, my Thunder would be my most enjoyable gun to shoot, even beating out my Mark-II Ruger.

And Bersachat doesnt tolerate anything but raving and glowing reviews. They slam any kind of honest negative feedback.

I would like proof of that statement. We go out of way to help if as person has a problem .To solve it or get him help. So show me your proof . As you can see here majority of people like their Bersa and you the only one calling names. .

You know where you can find me if you want to come over their and discuss . Iam their off and on all day long and in to the night.

...I would say that is an overstatement. Their fit and finish is not what you would find on a high or even a mid-grade firearm. The materials that go into them are not of high quality, hence their low cost.

Prove your claim.

I've owned 4 bersas in the last 20 years in 3 different countries.

I have 4 pistols in my carry rotation, P229R .40 a P6 9mm, S&W 5903 TSW 9mm and a newly acquired Beretta 92fs Centurian. I have a Bersa thunder TT however my wife keeps it at home and dares me to touch it otherwise I would have five in rotation. They are a nice little pistol and a good price. Don't let the price fool you they are a terriffic little pistol for the money.

As I said before, I have owned a Bersa Thunder pistol, purchased NIB.

On two separate occasions this pistol suffered breakages that rendered the gun inoperable. That pistol was broken most of the time I had it. The run around which I endured for the warranty was more than I could endure. In the end I cannibalized parts from another Bersa with a cracked frame that my local gun smith had on hand just so that I could sell it. I later found out from that same gun smith that one of those replaced parts broke again.

I stand by my suggestion that for the money, a Makarov is a far better choice. I own two of these as well: an East German Mak as well as a Bulgarian Mak. Both of which I purchased for under $250. I also own a 1969 and a 1972 Polish Radom P-64 which I consider a better made pistol...despite their atrocious triggers. Both of these cost less me than $200 each.

Micheal T, you and I have gone around on the subject on other forums. I was banned from one particular bersa forum and all of my posts deleted after I posted less than rave reviews, which, as I recall included PM's. I was accused of being a bersa hater out on a crusade but I was only providing my personal, if only anecdotal, experiences with my bersa. So for those of you who demand "proof" of bersa forums being slightly biased, you'll have to take my word for it...take it or leave it.

However, many threads can be found on other forums about bersa quality. Here is just one interesting thread (that I did not participate in) which some of you may or may not be inclined to read:

I have the CC and the Thunder 9 (fullsize). They're accurate, reliable, and affordable pistols. The finish could be better but it is not bad for the money.

As far as your opinion goes creature, I'll leave it. It's a good thing you have 2 of those P64s creature because if one breaks you will be the only place you can find parts. I belong to Bersachat. I own 2 Bersa 380s. I had problems with one of mine. I posted a negative post in disgust and the people on Bersachat replied in a very helpful manner. They talked me through the problem (spring under the right grip that effected the trigger) and the gun was up and running in about 15 minutes. They did not throw me off the forum for my negative post.

OK, a Bersa thread with only one gun picture and it's of a MAKAROV?? Let fix that right now. Here's a couple of pics of my Bersa Series 95, all dressed up with her Black-T finish, 9 round magazine, and Crimson Trace laser grips. Trust me, I wouldn't have put the money and effort into making her into this if she hadn't started life as an extremely accurate, reliable firearm...

I like my Bersa uc9mm. I like it's ppk style. I like the hammer and drop safety. I like DA/SA. 14 rounds 2 mags. Well balanced. Not too heavy and not too light. Not much flip back. Tack driver for a 3.5 in barrel. It doesn't jam, not picky with ammo. I like the price and the guarantee as long as I keep it. It's resell probably won't be great, but I probably won't sell it. I don't think it's a high endurance gun, but I'm pretty sure I can get at least 5000 rounds out of it, if i can afford to. If it breaks, they'll fix it. If it get's stolen I won't cry too long over $375. It will outlive me. One might can find a better gun, but not for the price, unless they steal mine.

The Makerov is steel framed pistol often chambered in an obscure round.

For pocket carry, an aluminum framed Bersa chambered in a common round is a much better.

What is the deal with the lack of a slide release on those?

The Makerov is steel framed pistol often chambered in an obscure round.

9x18 is far from obscure. Pretty much any gun store will have it, and it's available pretty much anywhere online for about $9/50, making it cheaper than 9x19.

About the only place you CAN'T find 9x18 is walmart.

No one around here has it. Cabelas has one kind of FMJ, and one JHP offering. No one else carries it.

With the way that 9mm and 380 dried up about a year ago, I would suspect one problem with the 9x18 supply chain and it would be non existent.

Most gun shops around here have dozens of 380 choices.

I almost bought a Makerov instead of the Bersa. The weight and lack of a slide release were a big turn off, the availability of ammo sealed the deal. The Makerov was $20 cheaper too!

I have no experience with the .380acp model Bersas, but I do have a UC9 Pro and I'll gladly say the quality is fine and the quality of materials isn't poor in the slightest.

Here's a link of an interesting video where 1500 rounds are put through a Thunder 9 in about 15 minutes. This doesn't really prove a whole lot, but it does indicate the pistol isn't poorly made or of poor materials.

Again, I have no experience with the .380acp models, but the UC9 (and I'm sure by extension the .40S&W and .45acp) Thunder models are solidly made, even if the finish doesn't look too hot.
