best 22. cal pistol

I have both the MKIII 22/45 and P22. IMO the 22/45 is a superior pistol for accuracy and reliability. It is definitely superior as a first pistol. I shot the 22/45 out of the box as well as I shoot other rimfires. The P22, for me, has been lot of work just to shoot it almost as well. My P22 is back at Walther "waiting for parts" in less than a 1000 rounds because the trigger ears decided to do rough gouge work on the slide. I like the P22 despite it being a challenge to shoot well, but if I could keep either the 22/45 or the P22, I'd keep the 22/45.

Before buying a pistol, try them out for feel at a gunshop. If you can, shoot a couple. If you are shopping for a "first" I'd also consider the S&W 22A (accurate, mechanically reliable, fairly simple to field strip and reassemble); Ruger MKIII (accurate, reliable, the first couple of field strips could be frustrating if you don't read the instructions); Buckmark (no knowledge, but good reputation).

I'm sorry, I love posting this pic.

And I drool every time you do . . . I'd LOVE to find one of these, but in the meantime, Browning Buckmark & Ruger Mark III.
