That is simply not true. Sure the first few times, the parts may be tight but they come apart easier after that. As far as assembly goes, once you learn how the hammer strut and mainspring fit together you will have no problems. They are actually very simple, well designed guns.

Couldn't agree more!

Btw, I love your MKs, ColtPythonElite! The polish on that stainless looks great!
I have a MK10 being shipped to my dealer that I should have possesion of by the end of the week and can hardly wait! I'm wanting to test it to see how far out I can be still be accurate with it. I'm told they shoot like rifles.

Thanks for the compliment on my polish job....The 10 inchers do shoot like rifles. 100 yard soda can shots are pretty easy off a sandbag.

I have a S&W 22A-1. Awesome piece! I have thousands of rounds through it without an issue. Actually the grip screws and barrel lug had to get Loctite but that's it. It's shot Aguila Sniper 880 FPS up to Aguila 1450 FPS Hyper Max and all different brands, weights, etc.... No issues. I went to it from a P22 and so glad. I love the sights and the Hiviz front just makes it that much better. Look for a Limited Edition like I have and you will get three mags in the case. I paid $330 for it and it's a tack driver!

Here is mine. Limited Edition with three mags, 5.5" fluted bull barrel and orange Hiviz. I don't know how much difference the bull makes in accuracy but any of their barrels are hefty. This is the only one I have ever seen like this and the reason I snapped it right up. It's been an amazing piece I would even trust my life to:

You are headed in the right direction. Go with the Ruger. I just bought a target model 22/45 on gunbroker for 200 and I'm picking it up tomorrow at my FFL. I have only heard good things about them. Check out this video for an explanation of how to disassemble and reassemble, http://youtu.be/4fIYIWK0boo

+1 for the neos. I know some don't like the looks but you can't beat the simplicity. As you can see by the breakdown posted it has very few parts. Very accurate. I mounted a scope on mine and it's a blast! I've shot the rugers and they are ok. But they are a real pain to resemble.
For the price its hard to beat the Neos.

The older S&W 422/622 type guns have been great plinkers for me and can be found for under $200 on the used market.

To get that kind of velocity 1450 in the Aguila in a pistol how long is the barrel?

If you can find a clean used Hi Standard autopistol in the newspaper or at a gun show, I'd consider that. They have great triggers.

JMO, but highly unlikely in that price range. Mags can be persnickety and a little expensive, depending on the model.

A good used Ruger MK or Buckmark can be be found, because there are a lot of them out there. Good pistols

I have a H.S. and bought my son a Ruger years ago. It's a shooter, but also is a little awkward to tear down. You'll get over it.

I doubt if you got 1450 fps out of a 5.5" barrel...I figured in your original post you were just referring to the ammo description on the box.

Doubt all you want. I shoot many calibers, bullet types, etc... over the Chrony and use a standard control lot of ammo before and after to verify. in .22LR:

My S&W just seems to love the Aguila HP's. It slowed down on the round nose but it's repeatable.

I have a Ruger mark III thats relatively new and have put approx 350 rounds so far without a hitch.I have no idea about the other good 22's out there but im pretty damn happy about Ruger products.

I was very interested in getting that Ruger .22LR with the slap sided barrel in stainless cost was around 400-500. But I heard they were a nightmare to take down for cleaning.

Another vote for the 22/45. Mine sees its fair share of range time anymore and has digested any fodder I've selected to run through it. It's also my gfs favorite .22 and she's very accurate with it.

I've owned a couple Ruger .22 auto pistols and found them excellent. I currently own four Ruger autoloaders, .380, 9mm, .40S&W, and .45ACP. My .22 pistol is a Browning Buckmark Camper. The Buckmark has about the best trigger I've seen on a lower priced pistol, the sights are very good and adjustable, the balance and ergonomics couldn't be improved for me. I don't often do a full tear down for cleaning, just clean the bore and brush the bolt face and ejector area. A little wipe of oil on the top and bottom of the slide rails and it's good to go. About every four or five hundred rounds I pull the slide off for full cleaning. It doesn't take long, just two screws. The nylon guide on the recoil spring isn't a problem and is easy to get off and on with a slight modicum of care. I have two rails, one is the original with the rear sight and the other is a pictinny that my Red Dot mounts on. The Camper is the cheapest of the Buckmark line but has a heavy barrel and a very light slide which reduces the time needed to get back on target. We have a friendly weekly .22 off hand competition at my gun club and the Buckmark is second to none in performance. Highly recommended a very good gun at a good price.

Is that a 7" fluted bull that top one? Hard to find! I want that barrel or if I found a 7" like that I would buy it.
