albanian, do you ever have anything positive to say in a post? Makarovs suck, Llamas suck, Taurus suck besides the Beretta clones, gee what do you own and like and reccomend, Korths?;)

I agree sometimes but there is a place for the "cheaper" guns and one can do well occasionally if they luck into a good example. I have a Llama micromax 380acp that is fine, feeds any hollowpoint and is fairly accurate. A dealer I know says he had more problems with the Colt 380acps like the Government and the Mustang.

Problem with brands like Taurus and Llama is the poor qc I guess, I've had lemons from name manufactures too but fewer. Another Llama I have is a 9x19 IX-B, sort of a Colt commander clone. Accuracy is quite good and reliabllty is 100% with ball ammo up until about 400 rounds and it gets dirty but will not even feed Remington jhp with the rounded profile.

My sole Llama 45acp experience was bad though to be honest. Colt mags would not fit, accuracy was poor and even ball ammo was not enough to promote reliabilty. My Llama 44mag revolver, while beyond the scope of this post, is also a good performer if you keep Ruger only 44mag loads out of it and it actually has adj sights superior to those found on a S&W and has other interesting design features as well.

I fully agree with you. Very reliable and accurate.

I'll never understand why people who think they know handguns would throw their money away on POS handguns that no one who knows anything about handguns would ever buy... :banghead:

If you are gonna buy a Llama, you ought to at least have the good sense not to "brag" about it... :barf:

I've had good and bad experiences with both expensive and cheap handguns!...Next question?

varoadking, I can take criticism when it is "constructive". Yes, I promote the Llama because many members are not familiar with them, especially the older models, and yes: when you find a reliable .45 for a low price people ought to know about it. This forum is an exchange of views and ideas and hopefully informative as well as being entertaining..:) .
If this Llama is a POS in your view, don't have a problem with it; but you ought to explain why...;)

I'd be happy anytime to have someone do up a written test on handgun knowledge and we both take and see who does better, and guess what, I have 3 Llamas:what:

I guess the loser would have to buy the winner a Llama! I do admit though I am less likely to talk up my Llamas or show them to people than my higher end handguns but when it comes time to shoot, it's like most hobbies, the operator, not the equipment is what matters.

I have a nice basketball, but I can't perform like Kobe. I have shot better groups at the range with a beat up Taurus 82 than the shooter next to me with a Glock.

I like the less glamarous guns for some reasons sometimes as I find it satisfying to shoot a nice group with a handgun that cost $100-200 and not over $1000, some of them are historically interesting like Makarovs and Cz52's.

Also it is less heartbreaking to scratch or mar the finish on a less expensive gun. Do I use a Llama to shoot IPSC or impress people at the range? No, but for ventilating tin cans or even for defense in the case of my micromax they do just fine.

I like that too. There are folks with $1k+ tricked out guns who'll say that your gun is a piece of junk, and then you take it and shoot as well (or better) with it than they can with theirs. Then you can shrug and say, "Well, I guess it's me doing well here, and not this junk gun."

Then smile and say that their expensive gun is sure a good shooter....

Personally I prefer spending an extra $50 bucks (for a total of $350) on a Norinco 1911. It is made of solid forged steel, has a chrome lined barrel, and has almost the exact same specs as the Colt 1911. These features, combined with its cheap price, makes it one of the best 1911s available.

Zen, the "curved finger grip", is that stock or pic #2 appears maybe it is the grip? Like it regardless....:)

The label on it wasn't Llama, but it was made by the same company. I had a Firestorm Gov't model. It was ok, but I had to put some elbow grease into it to get it to work right. I finally sold it. But I later bought a Firestorm Compact, looks about like a Commander. This one is Duo-tone, and looks 100 times better than the other one. I'll still have to put some money into it to get it to work with HP ammo, but otherwise it goes bang every time.

This isn't the greatest pic of my Compact, but trust me, it looks better than most of the last run of Gov't models I seen that came out of that factory.

It's an aftermarket grip. Really comfortable to shoot. Other than that the gun is 100% stock.
