I’m having trouble finding affordable pistol length uppers for an AR build I’m doing I’m using a spikes tactical lower with a shorty style buffer tube with no brace I used a m and p parts kit from Cabela’s. It’s my first build but all the pieces went together ok on the lower. Now I would like to find a decent complete pistol upper that won’t break my wallet. It seems like the upper seem to cost more than price of a new gun???

Palmetto State is your best bet for quality/value. They have several options in 556 or 300 BO

Dsg, DSA, JSE surplus also have options as well that won't break the bank. All reputable companies

I got a PSA 8.5" M-LOK railed upper for 260.00 shipped and a lower w/ KAK-Shockwave Blade and EPT trigger a few weeks ago for 179.00 shipped. If not in a "must have now" hurry, get on their mailing lists along with other retailers so that you get sales pushed to you. If not, inventories can be limited and you might miss out on really good deals. Took it out days ago and I was pleasantly surprised how well it ran. Though it functioned just fine with the included carbine buffer, I replaced it with a H3 which also run fine.

Thanks y’all I found the PSA site. All of their prices seem very reasonable. Im looking for fairly short barreled railed upper complete with the bolt carrier group any suggestions? I’m really interested in putting a ghost ring type iron site on it too. Kinda like a close range gun with fast ability for targeting. I have an M&P 15 with a Nikon on it for a target shooting now I’m looking for a fun range toy for like 20 to 30 yards faster type shooting.

Looks perfect but it’s out of stock. Good suggestion though. Looks very close to what I’m looking for. I’m new to ARs so also want one with BCG so I know the whole thing will work out.

I have no reason to believe that one also would not be a good one. Just decide what barrel length you think you'd prefer and any features like handguards, etc and go for it. As I said, at times their inventory can go crazy.

You dont have to get one that has the BCG with it. They sell the BCG separately for less than $70 most of the time. Toolcraft BCG from Right To Bear are always priced right as well. I would go with 10.5 inches or more barrel if going with 556 due to ballistics. 300BO you can go shorter. Here is a good option with BCG included http://palmettostatearmory.com/psa-...lok-freedom-upper-with-bcg-ch-5165447625.html .

Radical Firearms pistol uppers seem to have good reviews.

I had good luck with my PSA Freedom carbine build. I brought a complete rifle build kit but was not impressed at all with the BCG that came with it. I thought the gas tube assembly was not properly staked. I was able to exchange it for a PSA Premium BCG and am very happy with the results.

SIgn up for PSA Daily Deals as they run some great deals. Have your credit card ready as their Daily Deals expire at midnight. I will likely be doing another build using a PSA Upper Receiver and Barrel assembly. However I will buy it without the BCG and buy either a PSA Premium BCG or a high quality one from another manufacturer.

Bear Creek Arsenal is a good one.

Hardened Arms has excellent uppers for a reasonable price

Be sure the pay attention to the handrail and the flash hider on the upper you buy . I like the rail to come all the way to the front of the barrel or just passed it.
