The Great Plains is a good place to start.

Knowing where you are located would be a better way to start.

Memories!!!!

10 miles northwest of Aztec, NM used to rival NYC human population. (on BLM land to boot). Its been a lot of years (i.e. decades) since Ive been there thou... so there could be a strip mall or McDonalds out there today?

The problem I see, isn't so much finding the dogs, but getting access to shoot them. Much like hogs, land owners will cuss and cry about their infestation, but for some reason they won't just allow anyone to help out with the eradication.

Another problem with land access here in Kansas and other states is:
A lot of land owners have leased the hunting rights to outfitters & guides.

The ranchers & farmers won't let you hunt, because they can't.
If you want to hunt, you have to pay the piper, err, Outfitter.

Problem with that is, you need to have a lot more money then ammo to shoot dogs!

South dakota is a great place to find lots of dog towns, ranchers are pretty friendly, a small gift like a bottle of jack doesnt hurt things either. The only problem is that many of them allready have a couple regulars that hunt a ranch, so you may be SOL until you can find someone who has dogs to spare. That and sometimes its hard to catch someone who is home during daylight.

Not my experience in SD. We have had guys stop by and ask us to come shoot on their land while we were shooting on someone else's land. Guys will make their kids get livestock out from behind the towns just so we can shoot. The folks there couldn't be more accommodating.

Fly into the Murdo, SD airport. Develop some connections in the area, down towards White River & East / West. Join up or buy some back issues of The Varmint Hunters Asso. The Millette Co Chamber of commerce usually has a flyer or two with local contacts. I'd check WY also. Fun time had by all, but the dogs.
