What is the best piece of literature for reloading and what have y'all found is the most handy book on reloading in general ?

I have a bad habit of buying every book I can find.
On shotgun reloading--RCBS shotgun reloading book is the best one I have seen.
Rifle & handgun------most books I have read are very similar...............

I have to jump in here amd recommend Phil Sharpe's book "Complete Guide to Handloading". This book is also out of print and some of the loading data is obsolete, but it takes you from the start of reloading to the the current(late 1940's). There is information in Cpt Sharpes book that can mot be found else where and his stories are worthwhile entertaining. Be prepared to spend a few bucks when you do find this book. :)

What's wrong with the Lyman Reloading manual?

Everything you need to know is there, with pictures :D

I have the ABC's and the Lyman 49th. I am a new reloader, so finding a load is important to me for safety reasons. Well, hate to tell you but I have not found one single load that matched the materials I have. When I go to Cabelas, I sometimes look at ALL the books and never find the exact load.

So, I think if at all possible you should have as many as you can, unless you only buy a certain powder/projectile and you have a load for it.

The Speer #- 7.9 edition predecessor of the some times controversial Speer #- 8 would be a real find. ;):what::neener:

Lyman manuals cover the basics that one needs to know. The (49th) is the current manual. That’s what I’d start with.

The Sharpe book is a good read and the one by Naramore is the all time classic on handloading. It covers subjects the other books don't even touch.

"Here's one: http://www.amazon.com/Complete-Guide... Only $969.36" That seller is wildly, hopefully optumistic. I got my copy of Sharpe's book on eBay a few years back, excellant condition, $17, shipped.

Portsteel, you need to give us a little more info before we can make an intelligent suggestion, there are litterally hundreds of good books out there so we need to know what you really want to learn. Do you already hand load or want to start? Mostly interested in rifle or pistol or shotgun? Cast bullets? Hunting/plinking or serious target?
