Hi, this forum should be more active then the hunting one. I was wondering what is the best all around premium bullet. One that shoots accurate, retains weight far or away, deep pentration, excellent expanding, and will not explode when hitting bone. Also distance shot will not effect the effectiveness of bullet.

Partition
Swift A-Frame
Ballistic Silvertip
Scirroco Bonded
Core Loct ultra
Fail-Safe
etc...

Here are a few articles to read. Mind you they are old.

People have been saying good things about the "new" Nosler Accubond. Like a NBT but "bonded", meaning it should retain more weight. These bullets are available in weights that many people refer to as "heavy for caliber". They are on their webpage. Lots cheaper than the bonded Scoricco also.

What is the cartridge and purpose?

To me Nosler Partitions offer a good blend of penetration and expansion. I would use these in my 30-06AI if I were hunting bigger game. For hunting southern whitetail, I stick with the Nosler Ballistic Tips.

i notice nosler has 2 line of partition and silvertip bullets.

Nosler Partition
Nosler Ballistic Tip
Nosler Partition Gold
Nosler Ballistic Silver tips

What is the main difference. I will buy a box of each and see what my rifle likes.

Partition Gold and Ballistic Silver Tip are bullets made by Combined Technologies (Nosler/Olin partnership) for the Winchester Supreme line of ammo and are available as reloading components. As far as I can tell the differences are cosmetic only.

(I briefly touched on this on the .270Win. thread you posted.)

In my experience I've had nothing but success with the Nosler Partitions and if you were looking for one bullet, I don't think you could go wrong in selecting the Partition.

Partitions are excellent for bigger game for the reasons stated in other posts. For smaller boned/bodied critters, Ballistic Tips are a good choice.
I currently shoot two hunting loads out of my .30-06, Federal Premium High Energy 180gr Nosler Partitions (they push the '06 into .300Win. territory) for moose and larger bears, and the Federal Premium 150gr Ballistic Tip for caribou, sheep, deer and similar sized creatures. It simplifies sight adjustments. Maybe at some point in the future I may experment with 165 grainers, but I'm in no hurry since I'm happy with what I'm currently using.

As for the other bullets on your list, they all have excellent reputations for performance, but I don't have any real experience with them.
Try all of them that you can and see what performs best in your rifle keeping in mind what you plan on using it for.

The Nosler Accu Bond looks to be similar to the Swift Scirocco.

Thanxs alot. I will buy the Winchester Supreme Partition Gold and Ballistic Silver Tip. I guess the ST for deer, and PG for larger game. Thanxs for the feedback.
