Best choice for Sig P226 .40 drop in barrel?

I've had my P-226 for over a year now and really love the firearm. It's the most accurate gun in my collection and handles the .357 sig with a minimum of recoil.

I'd now really like to pick up a .40 cal replacement barrel for it and am trying to get some personal experience on drop-ins. I was thinking about going with a Bar-Sto because replacement barrels seem to be a core-competency of their's. I thought because it's what they do, they'd probably have closer tolerances, etc.

Of course, I could go back to Sig for a factory barrel or I could go through Midway or Cheaper Than Dirt and buy a generic brand as well. I don't want to send the gun off for a month or two while a smith custom fits it--I'm not that patient.

I just want the replacement barrel to drop-in whenever I feel like running some .40 at the range--I love the .357 sig caliber and it's the barrel that will remain in the gun 'at rest'.

I bought factory bbls for my 226 and 229, both in the same purchase. I think I paid $125 per, getting a bit of break off sticker for the combo purchase. That was abt 3 yrs ago.
 
have you ran the p226 357 SIG

rounds across a chronograph yet.the 357 rounds pick up a lot of velocity when you go from a 3.9 to a 4.4 inch barrel,thanks,keith
 
I would stick with a Sig factory barrel. You are not going to gain much accuracy by going to Bar-Sto although they are excellent barrels. Also the Bar-sto is going to set you back $185 +. I have seen factory Sig barrels as low as $130. Pick up a Gun LIst magazine.
