I would not want any of the others. Especially that P-22 (unless of course you got the long barreled one with the SIMULATED vents)

:barf:

Perfect for miatchguy, maybe.

Well, the two Smiths are interesting. I'd prefer the 686 in a 2.5", 3" or 4" length however, and the new X-frame just doesn't light my fire. I mean, objectively it's pretty cool, but why?

The only 1911 on the list is a Painted Ordnance. Ugh. Not really my cup of blood & brimstone.

I guess the 92FS fills the wondernine niche, of which every diverse collection should have one example, be it Glock, SIG, Beretta or whatever.

The Barrett's another one that I just really have no use for. It won't fit in my car. It'd be pointless to shoot in the back yard. I'd have to buy a membership at ORSA to really get any use out of the thing. I'd have to get my roommate to let me use his truck or drive me out there to shoot it. It'd wind up getting shot twice a year. Seven long is a lot of dough for an awkwardly-sized, scoped, paperweight.

How can it be "Best Ever" with out some variation of a single action 1911?
Or how about a SA Colt Revolver?
Lever gun?
Need more scatterguns!
BHP?
I would want a few other selections in the Bolt Action category as well.

Here's a list I made of the perfect gun collection; tell me what you think

I think you should try harder next time. :D

You're also missing a CCW gun. I guess you could conceal a full-size Beretta or a double-stack .45, but who would want to? ;) I suggest a single-stack SIG or a Kahr, but a snubnose revolver would also work.

You should also have a real rifle. I suggest an FAL. :D

Best ever?

Bought a rifle from a (now deceased) gent who owned a coal mine -at time of death, he had over 4000 firearms in his collection.

Then there's a billionaire living hereabouts, he has over 400 working tanks and AFVs in his collection. .30 cals, .50 cals and 12.7mms are just accessories that he collects for mounting.

I think that your collection could do with the addition of a few 1911s, a Colt SAA, some leveractions and at least one H&K P7M8.

First of, the M16 is full-auto Bowman. And about the Barrett, this is just a stupid wish list, it doesn't have to be practical.:D But I do agree that I shouldn't have overlooked the 1911.

bogie,

Well, if it's a wish list, go 'head and put the Barrett back on it, but after a real Ma Deuce... with a few hundred acres to shoot it on.

In my present circumstances, however, if I won a Barrett in a lottery, I'd give it away to a friend who could actually use the thing. ;)

Perfect is in he eye of the beholder. If you're happy w/ what you have, that should be all that matters ;)

Ok, here is my perfect list.

miatchguy,

Man, if I had a Barrett, I think it would be worth it to learn. :D

Please re-read my posts; I can shoot a Barrett just fine. At least, the couple times I have I seemed to hit the bullseye okay with it (although the 150-200yds we were shooting at was hardly stretching the legs of the rifle or the scope...)

However, where I live now, I can shoot in my back yard out to about twenty yards. Because of this, I only get out to do real rifle shooting maybe four or five times a year. The only way a Barrett M-82 would fit in my roadster is with the top down (have you seen the size of the Pelican it takes to hold one of those monsters?) Consequently, the gun would never get shot, as I'm not going to buy a new vehicle for the sole purpose of shooting one firearm.

That's why it's not on my wish list; I just have no real use for it. If I won one in a lottery, maybe I'd send it to someone who wants one real bad, and would use it. I'll keep you in mind should the unlikely event occur. :)

Peace.

Sub an S&W M41 for the Walther P-22.

Sub a Browning HP for the Beretta.

Sub a pre-Model 27 5" S&W .357 for the 686

Sub a Redhawk for the DE

Sub a Les Baer Premier II for the Para

Sub an SSK T/C Contender in .375 JDJ for the S&W .500

Sub a Model 70 .30/06 for the Remington 7600

Sub a Benelli M1S90 for the Mossberg

Sub a good .470 double for the Barrett and M16.

Sub a Bushmaster .223 and a FAL for the $3000 Ares .223.

Add a custom 10/22 (need a rimfire rifle) and an HK MP5SD.

Not a "best collection ever" but getting there!

I just noticed that miatch is 16. This may have colored his reasonings. Man, my perfect list would be huge and isn't precise:

S&W 41
Mark II, 6-7/8" Bull
SP-101
Single Six 6.5"
10/22
Some NAA in .22 mag
Anshutz of some flavor
Henry Golden Boy

and that's just the .22s

Sorry guys, best collection ever is at the NRA National Firearms Museum. However, as a personal collection, the only change I'd make would be the Rem 7600. I'd take a 700 LTR in .308 Win.

I start with what I have:

Ithaca Model 37 riot (slam-fire capable)

Remington Model 700 Left hand in .308

HRA Garand (in need of some restoration soon)

1911s (5), but I want an authentic GI shooter made in the WW2 years.

Beretta 21

Beretta 950

Beretta 3032

What I want:

Ruger GP-100 4" maybe to convert to 3" to have one in this length with adjustable sights.

Ruger SP-101 3"

A Royal Blued 4" Colt Python made in the 60s or 70s

A preagreement S&W M29 in blue 6"

A preagreement S&W 625 .45ACP 4"

A case colored Ruger Vaquero Birdhead in .357 Magnum

A Class III Thompson, preferably the M1 model.

Some flavor of AR after the AWB expires

Some flavor of AK after the AWB expires

A Winchester 1887 Lever Action shotgun or a repro.

A Marlin Lever in .357 Magnum

A Winchester Lever in .44 Magnum

A CZ-85B after the AWB expires

Some flavor of black powder rifle

A Ruger Old Army cap and ball revolver

A double barreled O/U derringer in .357 Magnum

A side by side "Coach gun" 12 ga.

That about covers it today.

:what:
