Hi everyone, just want to show up and brag on my stock Ruger 10/22 and Winchester 555 bulk ammo. Shot my best 25yrd group ever today, cut it off the target and stuck it in my wallet to show to the next know-it-all that starts trash talking my 555 ammo!

10 rounds
3.04 MOA max spread (I can cover the hole with a quarter)
1-1.25 MOA best 3 shot groups
Avg. Spread I measured 1.63 MOA

Nice little ragged hole in my paper except for those 2 rounds that worked their way to the edge of it. I was sooooo happy with my shooting. Everything just felt right, good breathing, good trigger control on the creepy 10/22 trigger, and a pretty solid hold. I didn't have a sandbag with me but this was from a bench. 4x Simmons scope. The rest of my groups with various ammos were an inch or larger. I know there are some target shooters out there that will probably giggle at my meager accomplishment, but for me this was dead on, and nobody at my range shoots that good.

Practiced some offhand and kneeling too. This was my last hurrah, so to speak, before I rip the scope off and replace it with a peep sight and a post. Just had to prove to myself that my 10/22 will fire the 555s dead on target when I do my part.

Anyone else have a good day at the range today?

Let's see it because my rifles think it's garbage. Same for the 333. :neener:

Last week in 13mph wind I shot this with my Savage BV at 50yrds using Wolf MT, that's 25 shots but who's counting:

PS, I also know how to calculate standard deviations, figure integrals, solve differential equations (the hard way), and how not to cut down someone that's fairly new to something when they hit a milestone.

Not quite so good with the Garand at the 100 yard range-this time.
But seldom is anybody else there to watch. Life is too short (for me) to worry about it.

The real fun is being able to quickly sink a very small target floating downstream from about 70-100' on a high river bank, or shatter a clay pigeon in the mud with one bullet (.22, 7.62x39, .303).
So glad that we moved outside the city.

Good job! If that's better than you've shot before, you're headed in the right direction.

Nice target willy! Like the same size group but twice the distance :)

Ignition Override, I totally agree. I love plinking empty shotgun shells. I'm willing to sacrifice a bit of accuracy to get better with rifle sights. Who knows? I might end up being MORE accurate, hehehe, but I doubt it.

You're right Benzy. (and Geckgo) arithmetic error on my part.

Nice shooting, Geckgo. My apologies.

Despite my putting my foot in my mouth above, I maintain that " @ yds. is a more useful format, most of the time.

Nice shooting. I don't think there is anything wrong with 555 or 333 ammo. It's cheap and fun to blast. Occasionally, when I do my part, I can get quarter size groups with my 10/22 and /or Browning ATD at 50 yards. Neither of them have scopes.

FWIW - I've found Federal bulk ammo to be the best lately. It is really good most of the time, with the QC related duds from time to time. (fewer than Winchester & Remington)

Smaug, no harm done. I probably should have put some inch measurements on there anyways too. Mokin, I wish I could shoot that good. With my .22 at 50 yrds the groups open up to a few inches for me. Probably a mental thing partially, as 50 yrds is the last thing I shoot with it and by that point I'm getting ready to leave. Got to looking at my dad's daisy and I may scope that one and test it for accuracy. If it shoots good I'll use it for "fine tuning" and testing my ammos, but I can't wait to get my irons for the 10/22. Might get a trigger kit for it.

I made it to about 1/2 minute of squirrel, so everything from here should be fun and hopefully I'll keep getting better, though I don't plan on ever becoming a target shooter.
