Spent a few hours Tuesday morning at the range, with one of my friends.
I was breaking in my newly re-stocked 7mm Ruger American. I was also comparing some of the scopes I've recently picked up. A Leupold MK4, Athlon Midas BTR, Athlon Argos (standard), and my buddy had a Vortex Diamondback, and the old S&W that was on the Arisaka I gave him that day.
We also took along a number of handfuns.

All of the rifles shot very, very well.
Both my Creedmoor, and .375 continue to be exceptionally accurate.
The new stock on my 7mm hasn't changed it's accuracy much, but it's not quite as accurate as the other two.

I also had my .22 mossberg along, and I rescoped it with the Argos.
Once again the .22 provided the most enjoyment at the relatively short 100yds. With cheap aguila standard velocity ammo, it was holding a if it's shot inside of 1.5" at 100yds. Drop was about 9-10". In fact it hit right at the junction of the Argos 10/11moa gap. This made plinking clay bits on the berm cake, when the wind didn't interfere.

After shooting a couple sub MOA groups with my Creedmoor, I started plinking stuff off the berm with that as well, and since it was zeroed dead on at 100, blasting even small stuff was easy.

The .375 only came out for 3 shots.
I took a shot at something on the target, can't remember if it was a bullet hole or just stuff.
After the first shot I told my buddy I was gonna try for the same hole again, and after that shot he dared me to do it again.....

The rest of the time was broken up with shooting the .22 and the handguns.
Here's my buddy all dressed up and rolling my SBH and 240s over 24gr of h110.

I'll dig up some pictures of the groups shot by both of use when I get home. I just tossed the target boards back in the pile without taking pictures.

Sweet! It looks like you make it quite an event on range day. Looks like fun. I'm planning to get out to the range tomorrow but I won't be as decked up as you guys. :D

Sounds like a great time. My work and travel schedule has kept me from the range since before Christmas. I have a couple of new acquisitions I am itching to try out.

the to look great together, glad everything shot good. that 375 is ready for some pigs and cows. check the action bolts on the 7rm, when the b&cs bed sometimes the screws loosen some. looks like you and your buddy had good fun.

Ok, so the story behind the hat....

Eddie (muh buddy) came out of his house to put his stuff in the truck that morning with it.

He walked up to me and said "I was gonna start on your holster, but I made this instead!"

To which I replied, "well, now you have to shoot the .44! And I'll take pictures"

His answer, "I'll get my duster....."

So no holster for my .44 yet, but Eddie made a snazzy new hat and I've got some cool pictures to share.

I hope you guys, both get, and enjoy your range time!

It was a nice change from yard work, breaking myself on the bike I'm fixing, or chasing kids, on my one psuedo day off.

He does good work!
He does. If I remember I'll grab some pictures of the other work he's done, his bike bags are sick. As are the knife sheaths he makes....the dusters covering the 119 on his left hip.

Loonwulf, what do you think of those Athelon scopes? Have you checked the tracking on them closely? Yea, that is an awesome hat bro!

I like them, especially for the cost. The Mk4 provided a more natural image than the Midas, and did better when looking at the white paper reflecting mid morning sun,.but not by all that much. Not enough for me to be able to shoot at full power.
In lower lighting conditions there was no difference I could tell.
The Argos actually did better there, but didn't provide as resolved an image. Could just be that cranking the scope to 20 gave me a slightly better view of the blue lines.

Tracking on the Midas was perfect, but I only moved the turrets enough to zero. I've done a.full revolution return to zero test, and it's come back where it should.
The Argos.has good enough tracking to.zero, but it's no click and shoot. The BTR variant is supposed to be quite good now tho.
