My Savage has a 1 in 9" twist. I find it averages .6moa with 69g matchkings. It won't stabalize the 75g A-max bullets well.

The accutrigger is awesome.

Hope this helps.

I have 3 Remington 700s. A VLS .243, a VLS .223, and a VSF .223. The VSF is no longer produced. The others are available both new and used. It is a toss up which is the more accurate .223, but both are wickedly accurate. I had a cood gunsmith tune the triggers to 2 lbs and I load my own ammo. But, one of the reallyu greatr things about these rifl;es is they shoot almost any ammo quite well. I haver had great luck with Fiocchi Extrema 40gr and 50 gr. I shoot prairie dogs...lots of them. I am shopping now for a VLS .204. Obviously, I like them a lot.

The Hornady 75gr AMax sometimes has a hard time getting stabilized with a 1-9 twist, but the Hornady 75gr BTHP Match bullet shoots very well out of a 1-9 twist barrel.

Yes it does. Fits in an AR mag as well. Both my Savage 12FV and my precision carbine AR (both 1:9 twist) shoot the 75gn HPBT extremely well. Actually my 12FV shoots most anything pretty well. Rare load with a quality bullet that is over 1 MOA. Notable exceptions are the 36 and 50gn Varmint Grenades (the AR shoots both of those very well). Shot those so poorly on initial testing that I just gave up half way through load development. Every group was huge and there was no consistency or pattern to it at all. Ran the rest of them through the AR to the tune of right at 1 MOA.

Dunno about the 75 gr BTHP, but the 1:9 20" Savage I have won't stabilize either the 75 gr AMax or the 75 gr JLK VLD. The 26" gets enough speed on the bullet that they shoot very well. I might could try hotter loads to get the 20" shooting them, but I have such excellent results with the lighter VMax's I don't see the point.

I just worked up a non-lead squirrel load for my Dad to use when he borrows my 26" 12FVSS. The 50 gr VG's were worthless. The Hornady 35 gr NTX worked up just fine with H322 on an OCW series, 5 shots into .325 MOA at 200 yards. Kind of light, but I think they'll work well. Hornady told me to use 40 gr VMax load data.
