the 115gr +p+ are proven and perform very well.

also the 124gr +P

those are some good places to start but it comes down to accuracy and most of all the function in your gun. does work flawlessly? that is the major question, then i go with recoil and then i go with accuracy that is my top 3 thinkgs i look at when choosing a sd rd.

Corbon DPX 115gr +P

There is a ballistic gel test to show how good it is on ths forum somewhere
i think this would be an awesome carry load full weight retention, full copper barnes bullets, looks like a g2g rd to me. i am leaning towards the dpx for .45acp the 185+p for my 1911. i have seen that ballistic gelatin block and that is truely impressive and the bullet looses no mass.

I've seen some impressive gelatin tests of the Gold Dot 124g +P. I wouldn't trust anything else for my 9mm JHP needs personally...

With wetpack and chrono tesiing, the two best performers in my own guns were the RA9TA 127+P+ and the 147 gr. Rem Golden Sabre.
Both rounds were excellant even from the shorter barrel of a Glock 26.

I've recently moved from Corbon 115jhp to Corbon 115g DPX based on reviews since its release.

If SM gets wind of this thread,we're all in big trouble. :uhoh: The next 2000 words will be about shot placement. :p I use Corbon 115 gr in my S&W M&P, which feeds and shoots fine. Based on the gun you're using though, you may have issues with +p+ rounds (Corbon 115 is just +p) and even some jhp, which might get caught up on the ramp. Money is also an issue. Try different kinds and shoot what your gun (and you) like best.

Don't know about the best but - WWB 9mm 147grn JHP has ballistic results that rival the high $ stuff.. For self defense, I use it.. No worries...

Most anything light and fast. the 115 or 124 +P or +P+'s. My old Dept issues the Winchester 127 +P+. Presently my 19's are loaded with Cor-Bon 115 +P's.

I use Speer Gold Dot for my 9.
However, a friend of mine who is extremely knowledgeable
said he loved his Corbons. Swore they were the best for 9.
Me? I'd use either.

A while back I did a test using water jugs telephone books and a old car door.
Here were the top performers

Winchester T series 147gr
Winchester T series +P+ 127gr
Dot dots 124 grain
Golden Saber +P I forgot the Grain but a very good performer.
Hydro shock did not do to well half the rounds did not even expand.

Over all I choose the Winchester ranger T series +P+ 127
I think it's a good balance between speed and weight.
My second choice would have to be the Golden Sabers

But here is the thing most all +P +P+ or heavy 9mm will do the job.
What you need to do is fist figure out what ammo your gun cycles best.
Also grouping what is the most accurate.
What gives the least amount of flash and muzzle flip.
Is your gun +P+ rated?
What is your living conditions can over penetration be a factor?
Do you live in a cold area were you need something that performs best through clothes.
Are you a cop having to shoot through glass or car door?
There is no perfect round you just need to find what fits you best.

i still have some black talons in 9mm. I killed a 200 lb hog using golden sabers in my .40 I switched to winchester sxt's because i like a copper bullet rather than a brass one. all up to you, as long as you can put the bisket in the basket!

Facts are ALL the top ammo manufacturers make OUTSTANDING 9mm defensive rounds so it really comes down to personal choice.

I like Black Talons, but shot placement takes precedent and is everything.
