I was just wondering what the best holster would be to use while running. I'm ruling out anything like an IWB holster and ankle holster automatically, I'm thinking more of some kind of very sturdy shoulder holster (maybe leather?), preferrably with a magazine slot or two.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

P.S. - This would be something that could stand daily running and bouncing up and down (or maybe being of a fit where that wouldn't happen as much) for an hour or so per day. Thanks in advance.

Forget the SH carry, the thing will beat you to death! Go with IWB, or belt carry, preferably with a thumb break.Yuo will find that with a good fit, the weapon will move with you, instead of becoming a pendulem.

Maybe there's another way I haven't thought of that works specifically for jogging. Maybe strapping a small holster than isn't obviously a gun holster (like a small rectangular enclusure of nylon material or something) to my back'd be the best idea. Not ideal for drawing quick, but I just am not going to bother with an IWB, especially with the ones with no strap that holds the gun in place. I'd be fumbling to catch the gun every few steps without one.

I carry a SIG P232 in a Don Hume open top leather belt holster. It's a tight fit, and would probably work well enough for jogging. My PP fits almost perfectly in this holster, since the pistols are the same size. For piece of mind, however, I'd probably feel more secure with a top strap for sporting activities.

I realize neighborhoods differ, but though I'm now retired from running, during twenty years of running, I never considered having a chunk of steel bouncing around on my body. Knew many cops who were distance runners and triathletes, none carried while running. Maybe we looked at it as an incentive to run faster. Remember, it's 1600 jarring steps per mile. Any rubbing or bouncing is going to be plenty uncomfortable by the end of your run. Now, having said that, I notice techie runners today carry IPOD/CD players in what looks like neoprene holster things that snug the noise producer in the small of their backs. I also see a lot of holster things made to carry water bottles on hips as well. Some of those may be adaptable. Might look at http://www.roadrunnersports.com/ to see if they have anything that might work. Good luck.

I was thinking of something the held tight to the small of your back or upper back would work the best. I've even found a shoulder harness that has the holster I like, just I'd want it as something of a back rig rather than a shoulder harness. I'll keep looking and keep you guys updated.

P.S. - Thanks for the link.
