What I really meant is that after you break it in, and before you try the intended self defense loads, make sure it is clean and properly lubed. This way you can rule out grit or improper lube in your test, if there are failures. I usually use Synthetic 5-30 motor oil to lube my combat pistols.
The Taurus hex bullets were a bit too long in my 1911s, I had ramp jams in a gun that feeds just about anything else including 200 grain LWCs. So I still carry 230 grain Cor Bon. I am going to buy the Taurus hex bullets and handload them seated deeper, but it's a future project
