I will be carrying my G27 in an IWB holster. In the summer I will be wearing shorts and a fairly loose tshirt, sometimes a button up shirt with an undershirt, both untucked. I am thinking about going and purchasing a Crossbreed today, as a local shop sells them. The only thing I am worried about is that huge piece of leather making me sweat like crazy in the summer, 115+ degrees in the summer out here in Las Vegas. Has anyone worn these in comparable climates? Any other holsters I should consider? Thanks.

I haven't tried the Crossbreed holsters yet. I have been using a Galco Summer Comfort and that has worked well for me. It is a Galco copy of the Milt Sparks Summer Special. I am also in Vegas so I know about the heat issues you are talking about.

Check out New Frontier Armory in N Las Vegas. They carry the Crossbreed line and have the best prices. Owners are a couple of guys that are shooters that got tired of not having what they thought should be in a gun store available. Place has really good customer service.

Thanks, I'll look into that Galco Summer Comfort, it at the very least sounds inviting. New Frontier Armory is actually where I was planning on going today. If I remember, they are cheaper there than buying off of the website. They do have great customer service, one of the very few gunstores I will even walk into in town here.

You should really consider wearing an undershirt and wearing it between you and your holster. I realized a long time ago that wearing some sorta undershirt will actually make you feel cooler and it prevents you from sweating your shirts out. I've done this for years and even on my visits to Vegas and noticed it made a huge difference.

Another option is to consider a Kydex holster like the RM Holsters Lowrider as kydex doesn't absorb sweat like leather does.

You also take another look at carring OWB with a nice leather holster which pulls the gun in nice and tight. I find that I carry OWB more than IWB cause its more comfortable and with the right holster/belt you don't have to worry about printing....unless you wear tight shirts untucked :)

+100 The classic "wife beater" hanes will work wonders.

Galco Summer Comfort

Yep. I have one and I love it for summertime.

I also bought I High Noon "Bare Asset" while I was waiting for a custom holster to be made. It cost me a whopping $30. I honestly use that one more than any other holster. I have since bought one for every new gun that I buy If I feel I may ever ccw it. I'll probalby never spend that much on Galco Summer Comfort again. Yes, it is much nicer with fairly decent craftsmanship...but it offers no more retention than the $30 High Noon holster once I wear it.

You can get the crossbreed in Horse Hide which has better water resistance according to their website.

I'm a big fan of the High Noon Split Decision IWB holster.

+1 Lots of performance per $.

It doesn't stay put as well as the Bare Asset, though. Same price, just not tuckable. I have one of each, with zero complaints. Reholstering isn't fun, but I'm more concerned with ease of drawing. I've never snagged a sight or drew the holster out with the gun while practicing. It just works. I could care less about reholstering.

I have a friend with a Cross Breed. It looks like a well made piece, and I like the metal clips, but they're a little too short to allow the holster to be tuckable if you decide to do so. I wear the Tucker "Texas Heritage" every day here in Houston. Sometimes I'll tuck my undershirt in, usually not.

However, the Kydex belt clips broke off pretty quickly so I replaced them with the much better pieces from comp-tac.

I have tried an IWB simliar to the Summer Special, and I like the spread out clips featured in most of the holsters mentioned here. It makes sense to me to spread them out rather than stack them with the thickness of the pistol.

If I were to buy today, and if they made one that fit my gun, I would probably get the MTAC:

I have a crossbreed for my Glock 27. I hate it. It's difficult to get on, needlessly large, and not that comfortable. Quick to draw from though. I honestly don't know why people like them. I far prefer the simple Don Hume IWB holster I have.

Want to buy my crossbreed? Lol.

Well, I just picked up the crossbreed today at a local shop. Haven't yet worn it for more than a few minutes. It came with the clips through the middle bottom hole. It seems to still print a bit, I am going to move the clips to the top hole and see if it looks a little better. Has anyone else done much adjusting with it?

IMO, kydex holsters can start to chafe after awhile, when worn against your skin. And that's with 90 degree PA summers. An undershirt helps tremendously, though. I'd say kydex over an undershirt is probably the best summer carry option.

VegasAR15: I've had the Crossbreed for my M&P9c for awhile now and I love this holster. I did however move the clips 3 or 4 times before I found the right spot. I also moved the position on my body a few times until I found the right spot there too. I carry between 3:30 and 4:00 and the front clip is in the top hole and the rear clip is in the bottom hole. I also always have a T-shirt between me and the holster. I can carry all day this way, even driving or in a restaraunt booth. You just have to play with it til you find your spot. Good luck and don't give up on it too quick.

Just found these guys yesterday...N82Tactical.com...don't have one but they look like an interesting option.

Milt Sparks has an IWB called the Heritage which is designed specifically for hot climate wear.

That Garrity Triskel clip-pocket design is brilliant!
I love my SuperTuck, but I almost never use the tuckable feature, the pocket design fixes the floppiness of the CB ST when it is on my belt but not on tight yet.
