Best Mini-14 10-rounders?

Ruger has stated (the company, in addition to Bill Ruger) that they will not produce 10 round mags. If you email them and ask why they wont, they used to send a form letter response and two free 5 rounders.

I've promag 10 rd mags for the Mini14 and Mini30. They seem to work just fine - no flaws to date. I'm at a loss as to why Ruger won't offer 10rd mags - they are legal.

The Promags from fourfour should be disassembled, degreased, and cleaned before using them. They use white lithium grease in them and it should be cleaned out. I heard from one guy who didn't and they rusted internally. I talked to another guy who said white lithium grease absorbs and holds moisture so of course they should be cleaned of it.

Thats heresay of course about it absorbing moisture, but better safe than sorry. He sounded like he knew what he was talking about.

Can anyone confirm or deny this about lithium grease?

What ever manufacturer that makes Ruger 5 rounders for the Mini-14, also makes 10 rounders, which have recently surfaced on the market. Identical to factory 5 rounders. Exact same construction. Don't know who it is that makes these.

They work good (better than factory Bushmaster AR15 10 - only put 9 in them - rounders I can tell you). They are somewhat reasonably priced (20 bucks). They just don't have the Ruger eagle stamped on them.

My dealer carries them. I have 2. They change the complexion of the Mini-14 greatly. Much more fun to shoot, and much lighter and handier than a 20 or 30 round mag. Perfects the Mini as a short range truck gun varminter.

The 10rnd ProMags work just like the factory 5rnders in my Mini-14. Stay away from the Masens. They're junk. Bought 4, none of them fit. Sent them back for 4 more. 1 didn't fit. 1 has a cracked floor place. 2 have to be really whacked hard into the rifle. Just order the ProMags. We're saving you the headache of the lessons we all learned the hard way.

Did you forget about those 30rnd PMI mags you stashed away before the ban?

The word I've heard that why they wont fit in some of (the earlier) Mini's is that the mag lock in the gun is shorter than the more recent ones, and if you hit the locking lug on the mag with a file on the bottom portion of it, then they work fine.

Heresay again, they fit all my Mini's fine. So I never had to try it.

The Eagles are made of hard, rather brittle plastic, and break quite easily. The best mags I've found are from Thermold, they work great, and you don't have to worry about them cracking if bumped around.

Maybe if the AW ban is sunsetted, they'll make more of them.

The Pro-Mags do look very similar to original Ruger magazines, so I'm happy to hear that they work well. Does Pro-Mag make stainless steel 10-rounders?
