What is a good website that has fair prices on new handguns? Before I buy I want to be sure I'm getting a good price.

It's not really possible for me to get out in the "real world" and do research. I'm usually at school from 7:30am to 8 or 9 pm (some weekends too). However I do have access to internet whenever I want it.

Thanks in advance.

I vote for Sporting Arms. If you find a price cheaper at another site run it by SA and they may just match or beat it!!! I've purchased bunches of guns from them. Great customer oriented business. Owned and run by Tom and Becky Harris.

Another vote for Sporting Arms.

I was there a few days ago.
I picked up a shotgun and a friend got a couple Rugers.

We are going back in a few days. I've got to search their web site and see if there's something else I can't do without.:D

Depending on the dealer to do your transfer, the total cost of the handgun, shipping, and transfer fees may very well be higher than what your local dealer can provide.
If you have no time to shop then how are you going to have time shoot? No need in rushing to buy if you just don't have the time.

I want a gun for home defense, and the sooner I get one, the better I'll sleep. I have a two week summer break before the next semster starts, but I want to spend that time shooting and practicing instead of researching. I'd like to narrow my options down to three or four choices and then choose from there. I know 2 weeks isn't a lot of time to practice, but it should be enough so that I feel I can use it safely and so that I trust the gun if I need to use it.

I'm looking for a semi-auto pistol. My wife refuses to have a rifle or shotgun in the house (she thinks bigger=more dangerous). I'll start with a handgun and eventually work my way to shotguns and rifles.

I realize that a lot of people prefer shotguns for home defense, but I'm limited to a pistol right now.

Well to be honest with you, if you haven't already handled the handguns and decided on what models you would want then basing your choices on just pictures and write-ups could turn into a major disappointment. A handgun is a personal item and one size don't fit all to a tee.
Take your time to shop rather then maybe ending up having to settle and make do with something else. You will come out the better in the long run. Even if you have to miss an evenings worth of classes.

This weekend I'm going to a gun show to handle a bunch of different guns. I just want to know FMV of some of the guns I'm interested in, so that if I find a good deal (unlikely, but possible), I'll be able to take advantage of it.

www.gunsamerica.com is probably the biggest selection of online prices for new guns.

Spend your time before you spend your money. I sure wish that I had before I had purchased my first gun.

try galleryofguns.com and look for a retailer near you. you might be lucky and find a dealer near you that sells really cheap like sporting arms. i always check prices against sporting arms when i buy something and calculate all the costs associated and figure out is it worth it to buy from my dealer or them. the thing that most always happens is the total cost from my dealer would be at most 10 dollars more expensive than sporting arms but with galleryofguns.com you get a lifetime warranty on anything you buy through them.

whatever,

A gun you can't hardly go wrong with is a Makarov.
Cheap to buy and shoot.
As reliable as any pistol you will ever see.
A good mid range power gun.
Simple to operate.
Very accurate.

Did I mention cheap.

I've had to sell 4 or 5 of mine to people that shot them. They just had to have one.
That's OK though, when I sold one I'd replace it with two more.:)

you could try J&G sales out of Prescott, AZ. they run some nice specials- got a NIB S&W 4583 for less than $400. Its a great shooter.
