Where is the best or cheapest place to buy a Marlin 60 .22 lr or marlin semi
.22 lr

Where did you buy yours?

Seen some with scopes on them, those scopes any good? I am not trying to be a pro, just want to shoot around a bit.

If you have a Walmart near you that still sells guns they carry two versions of the model 60, the basic blued rifle was $139 when I bought mine last week. There is also a stainless version with a scope for $189 if I remember correctly.

I didn't think Walmarts in CO still sold firearms, then I happened upon one that does. This may be true in other states as well.

You Might be able to get a used one at a pawnshop or gunshow for 50 to 85 dollars after a bit of negotiation. Anything more then that is too much.I bought one for 65 dollars at a flea market and it was In like new condition with the factory stickers still on the stock. Sold it for 85 and regreted it ever since.

new will be at Wallyworld , or Academy, usually about 150 or less, if on sale.
Otherwise, since they are so reliable, I would go to a pawnshop, and as long as you know what you are looking for when you check them out, You can proly pick one up for 50 to 75 bucks. next would be a gunshop, proly more like 100 bucks, but it has been checked out by a gunsmith.
I would never myself buy a new mod 60, but that is becuase I have owned about 5 million of them, and know what i am looking for when checking it out.

It depends on where you are and what stores you have in your area. My Grandfather bought me a new one for $49.99 on sale at Big 5. That was 18 years ago though. You can still pick up a used one for that price used.

Wal-Mart is probably the cheapest place (NIB), but it doesn't hurt to look around. One local shop around here, sells them for a bit more than Wal-Mart, but they mount a decent scope on them ready to go for not a lot more than Wally World.

Used ones turn up where you find them.

Great choice in a 22 semi rifle.

I bought one new in 1980 and after many, many thousand rounds, it still is amazingly accurate and dependable.

got mine from a old neighbor that couldn't shoot anymore but the gun still could shoots like a tackdriver bought it for like a 100 i think best hundred i ever spent.

I was given a Marlin/Glenfield model 60 for my 12th birthday, it was an absolutely sweet shooting little rifle. When I was 18, and after thousands and thousands of rounds I stripped and refinished the stock.... no stain just the natural light wood color, resulting in a unique looking sweet shooting little rifle. Then the gun was stolen from me when I was 25.

Last week (at 45) I finally picked up new Walyworld model 60, the stock is cheap wood of some kind and the trigger group is now plastic... but I'll make do.

They are still sweet shooting little rifles.

I usually see them at gunshows, used, for about $85-115. At pawnshops, sometimes $50-60, but more usually $75-120.

My Model 60 could be my favorite gun. I certainly put more rounds through it than anything else. If this your first .22 rifle I would suggest new because the price differential is so small. Even though these rifles are very reliable, a pawn shop is a pawn shop and you really never know what you're getting. I bought mine off an on line auction, I can't recommend that either. Mine was broke when I received it. Trying to sort things out was not worth the trouble.

So my advise is Walmart and I like the stainless.
