I'm looking for a BP pistol (single shot, not revolver) on the cheap. I'm thinking of going with a Lyman, but if anyone has a better suggestion, try to keep it under $200.

I would like a .50 caliber rifled pistol (just to help with suggestions)

Can't go wrong with the Lyman's pistol. I also believe CVA makes a traditional type pistol as well. I know Traditions makes a more modern-looking single shot as well.

Good Luck

Can't help you there. I've a 50 caliber Lyman Great Plains myself. It shoots great. However, next time I'll make my own as I want a flintlock.

I think I'll be ordering the Traditions .50 cal percussion from Midsouth. Great prices.

Thanks.

CVA .45

Third Rail---I have a good looking older CVA .45 you can have for way less than $200. Like about half. I don't think this was a kit, but I purchased it years ago as my first BP just because it was so good looking. Was amazed at how well it shot. Problem is: I am off to Colorado for three weeks as of next Sat. I have sold all my other BP and keep the CVA in a glass display case. So: If you are in no hurry or you live around Dallas, let me know if you are interested. Thanks, Tom
