Idk if this is exactly the best place to ask this, but what would be the best place to pick up U.S. military surplus items?

There are tons of online Army-Navy Surplus stores, but with military surplus, you really ought to handle your purchase first. With old military gear, you never know what you're going to get.

I'd recommend opening up your Yellow Pages and finding a local surplus store so you can atleast see what you're buying.

It's been a while since I ordered from them but I would recommend Bradley's Military Surplus.

I bought many sets of Propper BDUs from them in the late 90s, along with a set of the Rocky Mountain Stalker boots. Good pricing and service. They even exchanged the boots for me (free of charge) when the sizing didn't work out (and it was my fault for not ordering the right size).

That's a +1 on Bradleys. Good pricing, good service. They're located right outside the main gate of F. Drum, Watertown N.Y.

Col. Bubbie's Online

Probably the largest single source of surplus military gear, US and foreign, in one location. It is on the historic Strand in Galveston. I was there last May, and the building is truly TOO crowded to get a really good idea of what they have. They also have a lot of high quality modern reproduction uniforms and accessories.

Their web site.

One thing, though - - When I was a kid, surplus stores were a mecca for bargain hunters. Col. Bubbie and many other places are now catering largely to collectors and reenactors, and they tend to get top dollar for their good stuff. For purely "using" grade things, especially in the firearms field, you'll often find better prices at large gun shows.

Good luck in finding what you need.
