Hi there!

a) Don't jump down my throat about EAA's reputation for service, niceness, etc -- I know it's "spotty" (putting it lightly), or about Witness v. Cz-75 :) I'm *not* yet certain whether I'll celebrate the fact that 5 of 9 Supreme Court justices seem to have read the Constitution with a Witness (or even one in 9mm and one in .45 -- very tempting), but Yes, I am considering that. (Also thinking about a P-01, and a few other possibilities instead, including simple forbearance. If I found another Cz-75 for less than $400 new, I'd probably figure that was destiny calling and stop looking ;))

b) Bearing (a) in mind, I am seeking suggestions as to the smartest / best place (considering price highly, but also customer friendliness generally) to seek out a Witness online for a mailed-to-FFL purchase. Apparently CDNN used to carry them (in some old HR threads I was just perusing, it seems like some people got fantastic deals there), but obviously I've been out of the loop, CDNN's website now seems to be "accessories only."

Is there anywhere I should know about as having especially good prices or breadth of availability? (I am partial to stainless, but the Wonder finish looks quite nice to me, too.)

Thanks for any advice!

Spend ~$100 more and get the Witness Elite Match much better gun over the standard for the modest price premium.

I got mine from Schramms Ammo & Weapons, Inc at a Houston gun show (they are in Dallas).

The invoice has his Email as: [email protected] You could contact him and and inquire about stock and shipping to your FFL.

Edit: Phone number in case the Email is no good. 972 222-0993

I bought a used witness silver team in .40 and its been a great target gun, never had a jam (except when my hand loads were too light, my bad, not the gun)I have mounted a aimpoint red dot on it(its factory drilled and tapped) Its my favorite hand gun.

Witness Stock...

I bought my Witness Stock, 9mm from sportingarms.com just about a month or so ago. I've been very happy dealing with sportingarms.com.

Thanks for the suggestions thus far!

Wally: I didn't elaborate well on what I'm looking for, partly because I'm still in the delicious consideration phase :) However, Elite Match is definitely on the table -- as you say, a modest price for the upgrade. I might wait until the kitty's a bit larger, and as mentioned before go for both a .45 and a 9mm in the same livery, whether that's Wonder finish or stainless, and whether that means stock or the Elite Match.

I've bought two Witnesses off of Gunbroker with no problem in either case.

If I were to go with an online dealer I'd go with Bud's (http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/index.php). At least their prices include shipping so you aren't being clipped for $15 to $25 for an $8 actual shipping rate.

And I second the opinion on buying the Match. I really think it is one of the best autos I've every owned.

mpmarty: Even if for no reason besides aesthetics, all-steel is the way I plan to go, if I really do get a Witness. Trouble with guns (my trouble, at any rate) is that I can't possibly afford to pay for all my temptations. So the next one might be put off by a few months of cautious looking, during which I'll keep my eyes on the THR classifieds, too.

Thanks to a fellow THR reader, I now know it's currently possible to get an excellent price on a new Elite Match, though, and I'm mulling that possibility.

Cheers,

timothy

I had my local gun shop order my Witness Match 10mm. It cost $530 out the door after 6% sales tax. They wanted to charge ~$575, but i mentioned i had bought a few firearms from them and would appreciate a better deal. Just ask your local gun shops if they can order them. Mine took ~40 days because their supplier was out of stock.
