currently, my family is in the middle of changing a number of things around in the house. including swapping my Step-daughter's bedroom for the "hobby room". and one of the things that i feel this might be a good time to do, is the acquisition of a new, larger, more suited to our future needs, gunsafe.

what we have now is a wally-world special "Sentinel" 8-gun unit.

and i would like to take a look at what is available, in what price ranges, etc etc. so that i can make the call as to whether we can afford to upgrade to a REAL safe, or if i'm gonna have to just suck it up and buy a larger Homak/Sentinel type andthen build an "enclosure" around both it and the current unit.
there's no closet in the room where this will go, and i'm not willing to leave two undisguised lockers that scream "GUNS IN HERE" in plain veiw in a room with two windows that are easy to see into from ground level.

ok so where is the best place(s) to "shop my options", do any of you have advice for this situation??

BTW if someone knows a good place to go and talk to someone about those Zannotti "asemble on site" or whatever they call em safes please DO let me know :D. that idea intreiges me.

Lonestar is one of the biggest safe suppliers in the country. They have a shop I believe and they are also at all the gunshows as are many other safe dealers.

Detritus -

I got my safe at Sam's & am very happy with it. I think it's down to $650 or $695 now (paid $795 when I bought mine).

There is a store in a strip center on the north side of FM1960 about 1 mile west of I45. The name of the store just says 'Gun Safes'. It is just behind the Spec's Liquor. Big selection, bigger prices, but nice stuff. If you don't buy there it will at least give you a reference point.

Good Luck.

AFAIK, Zanotti doesn't have a dealer around here. I bought one and had it shipped directly from the factory about two years ago. They're a little bit more expensive than the same size of safe by another manufacturer. However, when I changed residences it was nice to be able to disassemble the safe and move it by myself, and not have to hire someone to move it for me. It's quite well built, have no complaints.
