Best Powder for 10mm 165gr plated HP?

Any of you reloading sages out there have a recommendation on the best powder to use for the Ranier 165 Plated HP in a 10mm loading?

I cant find a listing in the Lee loading manual for Bullseye with the 165gr flavor. Closest is for 170gr Jacketed bullet with a starting load of 6.0 and never exceed of 6.2.

Not wanting to blow the lid off, as much as just load a safe and reliable plinking load. I have 500 pcs of new Starline Brass and 1000 of the Ranier Plated HP projectiles.

Plan to shoot in a glock 29 with stock bbl.

Any info/advice would be much appreciated.

For .40 S&W type "Not wanting to blow the lid off, as much as just load a safe and reliable plinking load", Universal Clays would be an excellent choice in your 10MM cases.

Get another manual, get two more manuals, Get all your friends who have manuals...

There is no such thing as too much load data.

However there is darn little data on cast bullets in 10MM or .40cal in 165gr.
With plated bullets... go with cast load data.. Jacketed data will be too hot..

Bullseye in this weight an caliber makes me nervous... in the heavier bullets and 10 and .40 there is too little spread between min and max... I would drop a dime on another powder... something that burns a bit slower, and a more forgiving pressure curve going hot and heavy with Bullseye is a bad idea..

maybe, 231, unique, 700 or 800-x, depends on the velocities I'm looking for, Midrange match velocities, or barn burners.

http://www.ramshot.com Look at loads for Silhouette. Start loads will put you in the range you're looking for and it is treated for muzzle flash and meters very well.

I was thinking you could use the 170 gr. Cast bullet data.

"Not wanting to blow the lid off", I'd probably use Herco -- about 8.5 grains, which will fill the case pretty well without being compressed. WSF is the second choice; about the same amount. It measures better but won't fill the case as full.

If I *did* want to blow the doors off, I'd use Power Pistol, AA#7, or 800X. I'm not going to tell you how much

i use 9.5 grains of HS-6 (my go to auto pistol powder) with that same bullet. its a mid range load that snaps well and is accurate in my colt delta elite. i have pushed it to 10.1 grains without any issues but it starts getting tough to handle for me (i imagine you could go higher if you are tougher ). the 9.5 load gives me a velocity spread of +/- 18 fps when i trim properly.
