I've been thumbing over some older threads but i'm hard pressed to find much if any data for .40 loads using titegroup with 165gr plated hollow point bullets (extreme bullets brand). I've seen as low as 3.8gr to as high as near 5gr for similar weighted bullets such as fmj or flat nose. I'm aware that there are probably better powders out there for this load, but with powder being scarce the way it is, we have to be resourceful ;) Right now, the load i'm using is 4.8 gr of accurate #2 with COAL 1.135 and i'm pretty satisfied with how that shoots, but I don't see myself getting within reach of anymore of this powder anytime soon. I can see the bottom of my last lb of it and have a bunch of TG being delivered by my friendly UPS driver within the week.

would any of the reloading gurus care to chime in? Really just looking for a lighter target load for plinking/range time. Thanks :D

Hodgdon actually lists plated load data for TCFP bullet under BERB (Berry's plated bullet) that you can reference for your X-Treme plated HP bullet. Since HP bullet has longer bullet base that gets seated deeper at the same OAL/COL, I would reduce the powder for start charge - http://www.hodgdonreloading.com/data/pistol
165 gr BERB FP Titegroup OAL 1.125" Start 4.5 gr (960 fps) 24,300 PSI - Max 5.1 gr (1,060 fps) 31,800 PSI
You are using 1.135" OAL and I would use 4.0 gr as my start charge and depending on the recoil spring rate, 4.2 gr may start to cycle the slide and work up towards 4.4 - 4.6 gr.

Keep in mind that Titegroup burns hot and violent and tends to be spikey with pressures. I would also suggest a set of check weights to verify the accuracy of your scale.

Thanks bds, I'll start off with 4 and work my way up to 4.2-4.4. Titegroup is a little less than ideal right now, but until i can get my hands on something a little slower burning, I'll have to make due.
