best rifle ranges? recommend your favorites

what are the best rifle ranges in the country? (must be open to the public, with or without a club membership, not military/LEO-only) and what makes them good?

I'm tossing this out as a generic querry because it'll be interesting to see the responses

but I am specifically looking to take a shooting vacation where I want to shoot
-reactive or metal targets of various sizes
-unknown distances
-out to at least 1000yrds (but longer would be cool)
-by myself or with friends but not as part of an organized event like a match or class (although i enjoy those too)
-calibers from the 2s to the 5s

on-site accomodations are a plus, as is the presense of knowlegable staff/pro-shop/gunsmith/trainers

but a dirt road to a campsite in the middle of 100,000 acres of nothing and nobody is also acceptable

TriCities Shooting Association, in SW Washington state. I think SBR/full auto/suppressed stuff is legal to own in the state, but it's not legal to shoot. There's an airport in Pasco about 30-45 minutes away from the place (and oddly enough, we haven't shot anything down yet with .50 cal )

The site is a little out of date (the plinking range is up and running with lots of reactive targets for rimfire) but still informative. We have all stripes come out and I see interesting guns often. My favorite is Garand guy (this is my name for him) who always brings a Springfield 03 or Garand and bangs the 450 yard gong like it was sitting at 10 yards. Fun stuff. I've been extremely happy with the place and I'm thinking of becoming an RO to give something back.

american shooting centers, houston.
you can shoot all day, it is charged by the person, and how many guns , not by time.
they have pistol ranges; steel ,5 yd 7.10,15, 25yds. two shotgun lines.
then pistol/rifle lines. 50,100, 200, 300,400,600 yds.
several ipsc pits all over, shoots for ipsc and other types held every tues night.
another side of the range does lane/trail shooting, trap, skeet, with shotguns of your choice.
They usually have two or three of the country/worlds largest shotgun tournaments there, every year.plenty of free parking. lots of vendors.
Last but not least, also they host a couple of the countries largest fundraiser/charity events, for MS and other childrens charities.
Most of the peeps you meet out here are fantastic, and the range officers don't act like swat officers, ramping up for confrontation. Nothing against swat here, i just don't want them in there all geeked up state, being my range officer!
as long as you don't go full auto, you can shoot it. air pistol, up to gibbs, jeffries, and any 50 cal homeade concoction is fine, anytime.
I remember this guy next to me once, with way too much time and money, zeroing on the 100 line.
he had about 5 of the biggest rifles i have ever seen, all custom. He was going to Africa, and was checking them out. He whips out a 32 inbbl. 505 with a muzzle brake on it , the size of a football.
needless to say , i got out of my bench to his left, real quick.
The muzzle vel , he said, was 3100fps. this was with 400 plus grn bullets , and when they hit the dirt berm, they would explode, with fire and concussion coming off the dirt! just amazing.
