Oh, those Model 12s.

We were just discussing them aside.

While a great deal and a lot of rifle for the money, I’m thinking of the “real” ones. https://www.savagearms.com/content?...ary=off&fsingle=off&ftop=off&ftube=off&fsamt=

They’re much prettier.

Holy freaking long link, Batman! (There, that’s better.)

Yeah @Demi-human, the 12FV’s aren’t on the Savage Target action, and personally, I find it super weird to call them 12’s at all. For a long time the 10 was the blued model and the 12 was the stainless, but I think a lot of folks started to associate the legendary Savage precision with the 12, so when they wanted to sell a budget model which wouldn’t SOUND like a budget model, they dumped the 12 label on it.

The standard 12 actions do shoot well, including the odd-ball FV’s. I bought a 12 FV in 6.5 creed a few years ago and restocked it, when they were on clearance at cabelas and factory rebated to $230 net cost, but it didn’t ever deliver as well as my 12 BVSS’s. I’m not certain there is an actual manufacturing difference in the action between the BVSS and FV, like the difference in the 12 Target series and the standard 12’s, but the performance indicates there is.

Hello guys. I would like to hear your opinions on what might be the best rifle under 2000 dollars. I'm talking mainly about precision rifles but if i could use it for hunting also, that might be even better.

My pick for now as a beginner who knows nothing about guns is Tikka T3X in 6.5 creedmoor or .308 winchester. Please post your tips. Thanks.

I know I'm a year late to this post... but my pick for best hunting bolt actions under 2k are Winchester Model 70 rifles. I got a Christensen Arms MPR in 308Win... it had issues with the bolt and cycling after firing...and so I traded for Winchester M70 Coyote Suppressor Ready in 308. Christensen is a semi-custom Rem 700 for over 2k... the Win M70 was $950 and shoots every bit as good of groups and cycles nosler ABLR much better and smoother.

I also have a 270Win and 300WM super grades that look and shoot like they should cost as much as Kimber M84 rifles.

Remington 700 SPS Varmint
Remington 700 ADL Tactical
Savage 12 FV

All $500 rifles very hard to outgrow with a 1200 dollar scope and the right caliber

I have the 700 sps sporter barrel in 7mm08. I shoot it regularly at 300 meters paper and steel, and can carry it all day hunting.
