I just purchased an HK-P7 and it's as nice a trigger as you'll find. I have a SIG X-5 and it's also super. My 1911 is excellent. I agree about the Kahr trigger system. It's long but very good.
Right below these is the trigger on my Taurus 92AFS. It's super nice and has a great feel to it.
I'm kind of a shaky handed person, so the trigger is very important to me in keeping my sights on target. All of the pistols I've mentioned allow me to do that. They all feel different and they are all superb.
Was there ever a queston? A finely tuned 1911 trigger, with little takeup, no creep and overtravel, at 2.5-5 lbs, depending on your needs or preference, is all you will ever need. On top of that, they can be had in weapons from .22Lr to .460 Rowland (or .50G.I., or who knows!)
I just copied my post from a thread about best range 9mm, but it's my answer here as well... 1911 triggers are great when tuned in, but as far as out-of-the-box and the fact that it's so simple a monkey could probably adjust the over-travel and pre-travel screws and maybe polish the trigger bow if needed... this wins:
EAA/Tanfoglio Witness Elite Match.
It's a Cz-clone that's better than a CZ as in the interest of streamlining the manufacturing this design ended up with less parts to mess up and is far less complicated to detail-strip, upgrade or smith, yet, most importantly, is free of the dreaded CZ-hammer-camming (a CZ trigger CANNOT be made as good as these do to the design differences... no amount of smithing on one can change that).
Use it to annoy any gun-snob friends by shooting it side-by-side to any of their high dollar Ed Brown's, Wilson's, Kimber's, Baer's, etc... laugh at them as they scratch their heads wondering why your $500 gun in trigger quality and accuracy is embarrassing their pricey toys... great fun!
I have some nice 1911s with excellent triggers. Some from the manufacturer and one done by me with Ed Brown parts. The lightest trigger I have is on the CZ Standard IPSC, .40. I tell folks it will go off when they think about touching it. Not for everyday use, not for novices.
The best handgun triggers I've got are all 1911s. Lower end 1911s will need a trigger job, but that is not expensive and there are many 1911 gun plumbers around.
I just went through this same issue and ended up buying the CZ Tactical Sport. The trigger is great out of box and should not require any additional work. I think you will find it on par with guns double the price.
EAA makes some copies/clones that are similar but be sure to research them out first to make sure it's what you want to have.
The new Sig SP2022 has a damn fine out of the box DA/SA trigger...one of the best
I agree Kahr has the best DOA out of the box.
that's why I one of each
