What MOLLE or other nylon sheath would be the best for the Kabar USMC knife?

By MOLLE do you mean Kydex? MOLLE is an attachment system.

I don't like Kydex in cold weather, I've had it shatter very easily in really cold weather. Nylon sheaths are OK but they cut easily. I've tried them all over the years and have returned to leather, for my uses it's the best choice. As for attachment systems, I think it all depends on what you plan to attach the sheath to. Molle systems work well for appropriately designed carrying equipment. I like the Blade Tech Tec Lok system for a waist belt.

I have used Kydex in very cold weather. About -40F and have never seen it shatter. Cheap nylon will fray and unravel under use. Leather on the other hand will degrade if not properly cared for.

I bought one sheath that fit my full size Kabars perfectly years ago, unfortunately they no longer make it. I still have mine from when I bought it almost 10 years ago. The sheath and knife have been put through the ringer and I have never had an issue.

I cleaned it up, no warnings, but consider it a clue. Like the rules say, you can disagree, as strongly as you like, just do it politely without getting personal. Everyone's opinions matter, and the readers get to choose which ones they think are the best.

Get the current production Kabar composite sheath and it will do well and be safe to use.

A buddy had a old Kabar with the leather sheath. It was held together with tape and stained pretty badly after years of heavy use.

The knife was in nice shape, so I decided to get my own. I ponied up the few extra bucks to get the one with the factory polymer sheath, and I'm very glad I did. Very comfortable, configurable, and secure. With a little paracord it could be rigged very tightly to MOLLE gear, I know as that's where mine rode for quite awhile.

I've learned that factory sheaths, with some rare occasions are usually on the poor side. If were talking an issued item, remember it was made by the lowest bidder of the lowest bidder who mad the knife.

Honestly, for just a fairly few dollars you could have a custom leathersmith make a sheath. You can have it made just the way you want with regards to retention and carry mode.
