Looking for a better sheath for the Large KaBar TDI.
The Sheath that came with the knife is pretty much a deal killer for the knife, overly large, poor mounting to the belt with both the stock straps and the metal clip.
So who makes something a bit better for this knife.
It's a shame they sent it out from the factory like this.
Thanks

My only issue with the TDI large knife were the nylon straps that came with it. They were the worst junk that Kabar ever designed, and I have used many of their knives. I ended up using a rivet gun to attach the metal clip to the sheath as a more permanent and stable carry method.

Not sure what you mean by the sheath being too large though. I always found the stock sheath to be very minimalistic. You might be able to contour the sheath a bit on a belt sander. Use epoxy to ensure the two pieces are joined as they didn't use a single piece kydex design.

The sheath could have been made smaller by using a single piece of kydex and using better straps.
The Velcro straps and screws were flimsy and let it "flop" on my belt and the design was not capable of giving an angled mount on a belt that would have been handier for EDC.
The metal clip, suffered from the same design flaws and the material it was made with bent and left the clip useless.
I'm taking it to a local holster maker tonight to see if we cannot come up with a sheath that will be a bit more user friendly.

Probably a cost based decision. Even then a one piece design would not have saved much space as the kydex used isn't very thick to begin with. The stock screws were only good at making it difficult to remove the crappy velcro straps. Ended up having to use a drill to remove them from the sheath. I have had my TDI knife mounted underneath a body armor flap or worn forward of my right hip when I was doing protective work and had no issues.

I bought some off of the Blade Forum a few years ago. The small TDI though. It is a great knife, but I agree, the sheath is a poor design.

If you look around some you can find them. Sorry, I don't have a direct lead, it's been years since I bought mine.
