I am wondering what other's opinions might be on the best Slug Gun on the market today; which manufacturers are making the best model?
 
Ithaca Deerslayer III

My brother has the Ithaca deerslayer and it is quite accurate. I do not own one but have used his 20 ga and have no experience with any others.
 
I didn't vote because I don't think I can weigh in on what is the best as I have only hunted with a Ithaca 37 20ga once. But if I were to seriously hunt with a shotgun, I would want one that was soely dedicated to the slug. As far as I know there was one company that would modify your Remington (870 only I think) by permanently screwing in a rifled barrel into the reciever (Tar Hunt?). The only other comprable thing would be an Ithaca 37 Deerslayer II, and would be my first choice as it looks good, is light weight and has the only free floating barrel on a repeating shotgun that I know of. Also the barrel has EDM rifling which would be smooth and stress-free.
 
H&R ultra slug gun When I bought mine , it was $169 put a cheap walmart scope on it . sighted it in . it will put 3 shots touching at 100 yards with most sabots and some foster slugs. It will out shot any 30-30 lever action I have ever shot

I agree with plumberroy. I have a 12ga H&R Ultra Slug Hunter and it is a great gun. It's built on a 10 ga frame and is capable of more accuracy than I am. Before I bought the H&R, I hunted for years with a smooth rifle sighted smooth bore wingmaster. Most of the places I hunted were heavily wooded and shots were rarely even 50 yards.
 
I actually have a Mossberg 835 with the rifled slug barrel and cantilevered scope on it; it will hold 4" to 4.5" pattern at 150 yards shooting 1 oz. 2-/34" Remington sabot slugs out of it. I've also got a Ted Williams 12 guage pump that has a poly choke on it and that thing on Improved Cylinder and only using iron sites will put 4 out of 5 in a pie plate at a hundred yards. My Dad's family swears by the Brownings, but I have never hunted with one or had to fire slugs from one -- they all do quite well with them though.
