I just got a Mossberg 500 with 24 inch ported slug barrel and 28 inch VR ported shotgun barrel. Slug barrel has a cantilevered scope mount and I can't seem to find a good sight for under 100$. Usually, according to reviews, the problem is that the sights fail with high recoil guns I.E. 3 inch 12 gauge magnums. I would like something with low magnification that will allow me for 125-150 yard shots max, but let me shoot in the brush as well. 3x mag would seem to fit that bill well, but no magnification will work too.

Im going with optics rather than iron because of sight picture issues. Ive found that shooting deer is much easier when you can see all of the deer...not just the top half. Thanks in advance for the help.

it is hard to find a "good" scope for under $100. I have had pretty good luck with a Bushnell Banner 1.5-4x. It is not as clear as my Nikons or Leupolds, but has held up several years on my slug gun. Adjustments are repeatable, and it holds a zero well.

I normally recommend and use good quality optics. Most of my rifle scopes are in the $300 to $500 range. I have two slug guns with rifled barrels and mounted scopes. One of them is a Leupold 2-7x shotgun scope that cost me right at $300. The other is a Tasco Bantam 1.5-4.5x that cost me $50. In the interest of complete disclosure, the first Bantam I mounted had the internals shot loose. Tasco replaced it at no charge to me and the second one has been fine. My son also has a Bantam on his Mossberg 500 and has never had an issue with it. The deer I have taken with the Bantam have been just as dead as the ones I have taken with the Leupold. For $50, it is definitely worth a try. The optical quality of the Bantam has been very good also.

I will buy the Bushnell Banner Dusk & Dawn 1-4x 32mm Riflescope for my shotgun. It is priced at 115$, which is more expensive than I would have liked, but it is made for a shotgun and starts at no magnification, which seems unfrequent based on my search for variable magnification shotgun scopes.
