I am looking for a window type dot/hologram for my new AR. I don't like tube style. I was dead set on an Eotech 512 because it is suposed to be pretty rugged, and I like that it takes a common battery. But they look very large compared to alot of the other sight. I started looking at the Burris Fastfire 3, which looks nice, but maybe too small? Same with the Leupold Deltapoint. The C-more, and the Trijicon might work also. I'd like some input from people with any of these as a primary sight on an AR.

I've looked at the eotech lineup. Just wasn't sure that if I was going to go smaller with an odd battery, I might as well go smaller than any eotech.

EOTech all the way. Forget about the size, I like them FAR more than any other dot type sight I've tried to this day. I've shot with quite a few.

I saw a picture of an eotech 512 on a flat top tonight. It didn't look as enourmous as it does on some other guns. I'd love to see a view of one on an AR from above. The dimensions given come out to almost exactly the same size as my Dish remote, and if I lay the remote on my AR it looks pregnant.

FYI, these are typically called Holographic or Holo sights.

Personally, I'm not a fan of holographics because I find they're more prone to sun washout, though I believe the Eotech has automatic brightness adjustment. If you're willing and able to spend $500 on a red dot, Eotechs and Aimpoints are definitely the way to go.

I have a 512 and an EXPS2. I'm pleased with both, and while I like the dimensions of the EXPS2, I like that AA batteries can be cannibalized from other gear for the 512.
